I'm trying to pick a design for a promotional bookmark for the new project I'm working on. My girlfriend says the one on the right looks a little too "Kill Bill" and I'm inclined to agree. I think the one on the left looks a little too real/digital. I would ideally like to just continue with the comic and then take art from the pages and plop it on a bookmark/postcard but I need this done this week.

Quick question for you kickass black-and-white artists.

I've been trying to practice my color choices and lighting, but, silly me, most of my own stuff is either already colored, or just doesn't lend itself well to this sort of thing. Would anyone be willing to hook a brother up with something of theirs that they'd like to see colored? Obviously, I'll post it in this here thread for all to see.

@Paul Sizer Sooo cuuuute! Though the flat number text on the helmet cries out for a bit of distortion to show the form.

I'm just starting to recover from last month - I went to three cons in two weekends, then spent two weeks dealing with the concrud. This spring's Seattle variety involves whooping cough, ugh.

I've got two books coming out this year - my own comic, and an anthology I'm pulling some friends together to to. I seem to have accidentally started to set up a specialty SF/fantasy comics press. So of course it needs a logo. Which still needs some work (especially on black) but I like where it's going.

This was originally going to be a quickie to test out the Drawscribe plugin over an old sketch but I turned out to prefer AI's standard pencil tool to its variant. And then did half of this in the pen tool.

And of course I'm still doing that comic about the robot lady with reality troubles. It's one of the two books I mentioned above, and is midway through its Kickstarter campaign. If I get enough pledges then I'll be able to print it with some spot gloss, which should be totally sweet.

Tonight I tried sketching in chalk, working fast, mostly because I was frustrated and sort of angry. This excellent model was patient with me. We worked late, and near the end she slept a bit.

I both do and don't like these. They are raw materials. Something can be made out of them, but they aren't themselves yet.

I'm breaking myself into pieces by degrees crumbling color onto paper in the reflected skin of all of these beautiful women.

Nice technique, Bill; all of the undercolor does help to give the skin the feel of luminosity that allows to you to see veins and makes it have an inner "glow". It's also doing nice things to reinforce the volumetric feel of the limbs in a subtle way. Any imperfections are pretty minor in contrast. Thanks for sharing!

#Amalgamated Biscuit - the guy is Major Les Hiddens of the Australian Army. He had a show called The Bush Tucker Man, in which he would travel to remote parts of Australia and do a bit about how to find wild food. The show was a huge hit mostly because of Les's laid back charm, and because of the fascinating places he visited.

This is part of my daily sketch project and I almost gave up on it. I did the lines of the figure and cape this morning and that was it. I was about... oh, 98% done with it earlier when my laptop decided to have some sort of hissyfit and crash on me. Once I got it back up, I was determined to get it done. And honestly, this is better than what I had before the crash. Because nothing will fuel my determination more than pissing me off, apparently.

Its been almost a year since I posted on here, and the talent just keeps getting better!

Finally started working professionally about mid 2011, but everything I've been working on has had to stay hush, hush for the most part, so I'm glad to finally have something to put up!

This is a little 3 page story I just finished that will be apart of a concept album called “Magic Sword”, that I'm working on alongside a very talented producer. The basic concept being that all of the tracks come from kick ass sci-fi fantasy movies from the 70s and 80s. This was our first experiment. I basically chose the track I wanted to work with and figured out what visuals came to me. The pages accompany a track called “Tear Us Apart With Battlefield Death”. Can't wait to do more.

All digital, with my tablet. Everything's broken up in layers - basic sketch, each layer of shading, background, etc. I treat it the same as I would sketching on paper, only I have the advantage of being able to change and manipulate what I'm doing better. I still sketch on paper from time to time, but this makes it easier to fulfill my daily sketch obligations.

Sizer, I was able to buy a bunch of your Caliber Lil Mouse books! I haven't read them yet though. I was surprised to see Darrow art on the back!

Yup; he was one of my first pro pin-ups. Got him to do it just before he started work on the concept work for THE MATRIX.

Page 1 from the HVZ project. The final printed version is actually in colour (at the request of the film company) but I created this grey tone version which I prefer.

Also, I have seen the omnibus, but I'm poor and I got these from the dollar bin. I get as many comix for my buck as possible, or try. I hardly ever buy graphic novels. I can't commit to spending that much money on one books where I could be reading 20 different books from 20 different arts.

Hi humans, I'm new. I've been trying to get my webcomic together and I don't know anybody (personally) who does the same thing, in real life or on the Internet so I thought it would be cool to get to know more people, as it were.

I've got six chapters written down but I admit getting my illustration pants on has been much harder than I previously estimated.

I'm just not very good at planning out an entire page at the moment. Hopefully I can learn from y'all.

@Pupato, Thank you very much. I have looked at it, at your suggestion, but not in detail. One of the first -- Delilah Dirk -- is one of my very favorites, just in general. I just don't have a seasoned view of webcomics yet, and I don't know if my love will ever got rewarded.
