First in a series of posters that I am designing for the Killamazoo Roller Derby teams, the Killamazoo Derby Darlins and the Killa Crew, which my wife skates for. I'm planning on making these posters be a set that fans can collect as a series. I am planning on making them all have an inter-connected color set, and to make them similar in feel, but not carbon copies.
I've been drawing an awful lot of sketchcards lately and I felt like I needed to stretch my pin-up muscles a bit. I really wish I had some more time to do this kind of thing...
Its been almost a year since I posted on here, and the talent just keeps getting better!
Finally started working professionally about mid 2011, but everything I've been working on has had to stay hush, hush for the most part, so I'm glad to finally have something to put up!
This is a little 3 page story I just finished that will be apart of a concept album called “Magic Sword”, that I'm working on alongside a very talented producer. The basic concept being that all of the tracks come from kick ass sci-fi fantasy movies from the 70s and 80s. This was our first experiment. I basically chose the track I wanted to work with and figured out what visuals came to me. The pages accompany a track called “Tear Us Apart With Battlefield Death”. Can't wait to do more.
Might seem like a dumb compliment, Max, but really nice overpass in that pic. I always appreciate when people take time to draw boring parts of drawings well.
@max…awesome overall pic…love that background. @lazzyfair….nice sequencials..colours really compliment the art. @alberto…solid pic. @paul….Derby poster of kick-ass!!! my poster skills isn't a match to yours. @spike…love the mr. natural/odin mash-up. @imaginary….those lines!!! @used_bandaid….sooo cute. love the Shulk/Powergirl strip. @dextra…love how you pulled off the flowing cloth. @initiatezao…love the red glow on the girl pic.
Getting some practise in, based on the 2000AD sample script 'A Cycle of Violence'. Fairly awesome thread going on over there (well, the thread is donkeys old but still active).
@struthersneil- Man, loving the high contrast, and the composition of this page. @mojokingbee- Thanks man, I'm not much of a colorist, so I was banging my head against a wall for a bit. Went REALLY crazy the first stab at it. It was looking more like a 70s black light, poster.
If anyone is interested, I have the music track that the story was inspired by up alongside the artwork on the link below. Music's pretty epic.
