First of all, this is my first post here, so please let me know if I'm breaking protocol or embarrassing myself in anyway.

I do a fare amount of writing outside my house, often at the public library, often at places with free Wi-Fi, and I'd really like to start using my iPad for lengthy writing sessions. Anyone else do this? Here's my technical situation:

• an iPad 2 (Wi-Fi model)
• an Apple wireless keyboard
• a MacBook (circa 2008) with OS X Snow Leopard (my home base computer)
• Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 (installed on the above-mentioned MacBook)

Are there any other pieces of hardware/software/apps that I should pick up? My dream would be to have remote access to the documents on my home computer, and to be able to edit those. That said, just being able to write on my iPad and save the files later on my home base computer would be a big help.
