@Rachael: Mate, I was thinking about your post as I came home last night. I was once in hospital (I nearly died), and I had to recover in a shit hotel, as I was homeless, so I can relate. I got through it, though. Anyway, sending you positive thoughts.
My fiancé had convinced me to watch Six Feet Under and now I've just finished season 4. I asked her if she wants to have a memorial service when we finish the whole series. I'm actually going to miss the Fishers & everyone else when it's done.
Just had our bid on a new house accepted, subject to contract and all that gubbins. In theory, this means we exchange contracts on selling our place & buying the new house in 4 weeks, move in 10. It's a pretty nice place.
Back from LA and kind of jumping in to things. TCAF is here, so boozing needs to happen with some comic friends and then on Monday I head off to talk about beer on that teevee. Am doing a bit of a scramble collecting local beers and sample glasses (which will continue to through the weekend) and I also have to write my AGENDA for the eight minutes I'll be on the air. Basically I'm thinking of starting off light with the question "people put so much effort in selecting amazing wines, spirits and whiskey but a lot of them don't bother with beer and spring for the @$ of Bud. I'm going to present an argument that Beer is right there on par with wine and whiskey and come up with three local beers and one international to talk about it. Sophisticaton in beer: it exists.
But LA was wonderful. I'll write more when I'm less damned exhausted, but I had an amazing time and being shown around by Oddbill was a treat that I hope to repeat whenever I'm there again (only next time maybe include a field trip to Argos' neck of the woods).
Oh. Also I'm now a Whitechapel mod. That's pretty awesome.
Don't know if you ever called/texted me. My phone was dead Saturday-Monday. Was back on by Mon, but didn't hear from you again. Guess you were offline, I tried reaching you over Twitter repeatedly.
Oh JEEZ. No, I texted you several times when I arrived on Saturday! And no, internet was INCREDIBLY minimal. Only could check one e-mail account a day before it cacked out.
Aw crap, I'm SO sorry we didn't get to meet up! Even more because the only night I kind of had off was Monday. But for what it's worth, I WILL be coming by again and maybe even soon.
