Just been asked to step in as guest speaker for one of my local open mic nights tomorrow, as the scheduled guest is poorly, so if anyone is near Harrogate, North Yorkshire come along to the Tap and Spile for Poems, Prose and Pints.
I had my first real bike commute today! Like, with cars on major streets in the neighborhood and everything! It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I'll definitely be bike commuting more often now. And now I'm confident that I can ride through our busiest street without instantly dying, so I'll have to try that street next.
Just had lunch w/ the tumblr friend who happens to live in Nashville. Had a pretty darn good turkey burger, too. We're meeting up yet again, hopefully next week, so she can give me 13 Storeys High (really good show, you can find it on youtube) in some sort of file format that includes the commentary tracks. I'm a completest, I am.
- Weighed in and I have 7-8lbs to lose before I'm at the weight I was before the holidays, two US trips and medication fuckery pudgified me a bit. So huzzah! 10lbs gone, a little more to go and then...19 more pounds until my goal (yeah, yeah, but I like to work on weight loss in increments so it's less daunting). Healthy eating is happening, I'm getting back in to boxing and will start running again, as that along with walking were my BIG weight loss things.
- Plants are growing. The onions may have been overwatered and dying, but everything else, EPECIALLY the Jalapenos, are doing well and should be ready for transplanting soon.
- Internship is pretty much done. No more early mornings and neglecting things due to tiredness!
- I joined a group that does things like give Polo lessons, skydiving, gun shooting and a couple of other cool activities for a fairly cheap price. Hopefully cut out some of the blah from my daily life.
I know I posted here last, but also today I came to a realization.
I really did forget how much two things just calm me down and make me feel better about things. Writing in my journal and running alone on the track.
I started getting back in to the routine of writing in my journal every morning on the commute to work, which takes away a lot of my mental stresses.
And due to some stomach fuckery, I wasn't able to go to the gym. But later tonight at home I started feeling better and decided to head to the track. I only did about 2 miles (though still good since I'm just getting back in to the swing of things with running) but it was wonderful to just let my mind go blank and focus on nothing but my breathing.
Flecky version 2.0 is now available in various formats to suit the needs of society. It moves on a self-regenerating flinch system, and is available in various shades of a toxic green and purple, paisley-sick combination.
Tired of existential worries hitting you like a boulder at work? Then just let it free from it's box, and watch it climb up your employer's leg as it seeks-out somewhere to give birth to it's minions.
Plagued by doubts that your not cool? Let the all-new, limited-edition, Flecky 2.0 run naked down busy streets. Pull it's string, it talks. Prod it's brain, it wails. Give it a ax, it kills. Give it your wife, it breeds!!
Available under-the-counter at most chemists.
#Flecky version 2.0 doesn't come with a manual, doesn't know what-the-fuck is going on, thinks it's harder than Tony Stark, is not good on public transport, and is now five-days-clean, ya bastards!#
Everything is half dull in tone and I suspect I'm speaking a little louder than I really need to. And throat and back are raw as hell. Awesome. A while back my MB (middle bro) surprised me with Rammstein tickets and tonight was the night.
RAwR!!! Good good guys, nasty ass songs, fucking hard rock and motherfucking pyrotechnics jesus. brilliance. Ridiculous brilliance.
The past three days have involved overcoming back spasm with the power of corset-wearing, volunteering at WFMU, in depth conversations about comics with a true comic dork, a Little Shop of Horrors screening with a Frank Oz Q&A , more volunteering at WFMU, more fun conversations, something that might be considered an impromptu dinner date, hours of conversation, and an amazing chance run-in with a cool fellow I was meaning to hang out with.
Aside from the really terrible parts, my life is pretty awesome.
