Strangely enough, I was talking to some younger people yesterday about playing text-adventure games years ago. They just looked at me weird, but I know better. Those games were great.

Same request, but for the iPhone/iPad. I've already found /Civ Rev/, which is quite fun in a limited way, and I know I can get MAME-style emulators for the older games. Anything like /Myst/ or /Machinarium/, or even decent single-player RPGs that aren't overly cute and Zelda-like requested .
@JAQ - Played them when they came out, which is why I'm looking for ones like them. :) Thanks though. There's precious little *like* /Myst/ available for any platform; even /Riven/ didn't really rise to the job.
I remember a Star Trek text game where McCoy would tell you to calm down the first time you swore, would tell you that you should go to sickbay the second, and would give you a sedative that would knock you out and the game would end.
(or something like that... it was many, many years ago and I can't seem to find anything online about it...)
Been using Nero for pretty much everything disc-burning related for years but it's lately been showing some limitations.
Are there any free programs you'd recommend? Preferably one which, in the case of DVD, can convert formats automatically before burning so it'll play on a standard DVD player.
#ThatComicBook -- I'm with Jason... sounds like Prophet. Ellis blogged about it Here, people have often discussed it on here. Writer, Brandon Graham is the brilliant mind behind King City, artist, Simon Roy created Jan's Atomic Heart.
Does anyone know where I can find a patch or something that will let me watch You-tube videos on Firefox again? For the last few days I've been getting this "error try again later" message.
I'm not good at being an adult sometimes. I have ONE bottle of perfume that I kind of like and I got given it as a present for my 16th birthday. My sister stole it for a while, and I still have SOME of it left (gives you a hint as to how often I wear perfume). Recently I realized that perfume can be fun.
The perfume I have is Banana Republic Classic. I think ti's the unisex one. I could buy more of it on EBay (they don't make it anymore) but I'm interested in hearing about what people here think about perfume in general.
I am not much of a perfume person. I have a nose for food, but for perfumes, I'm kind of clueless. However, I have had friends who have the sensitivity and ability for that sort of stuff. So I had them help me pick out scents (and they were usually right). I should get bottles for the scents that I liked, but I've yet to get around to it. BPAL (Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab) has amazing perfumes, and has sample size perfumes that last a long time. (At least that's what friends who are obsessed with smells tell me, and the stuff I've had gotten for me, I've generally liked.) However, unless you live in LA, everything is online, so it's a guessing game (unless you already know someone who has their stuff). The descriptions etc are a bit goth-y, but I've heard all sorts of good things about them. They also have collections inspired by Neil Gaiman and various nerdy bits of pop culture, so that might be interesting as well.
BPAL is nice because it's pure oils, so it doesn't have that alcoholic thing going on. Also, they come in tiny bottles so it forces you to just use little dabs here and there instead of drowning yourself in perfume, which I hate when people. My parents do it when you go out and it's as bad as if people were smoking around me, I just can't breathe. As for actually wearing perfume, I never got into to because it was a source that I didn't really care for putting money into. I was interested in oils such as those from BPAL but never been a fan of the spray on ones (though in middle school I did like the fruity smelling body sprays). I don't pursue perfumes at all now because Edgar isn't a fan of them, he has a sensitive sense of smell.
I bought a no-name Chinese tablet off the internet - a Washion M9.
It has a sim card slot and is supposed to support 3G but when I put a sim card in it, it doesn't seem to recognize it.
Any suggestions?
The description of the tablet says it supports WCDMA/CDMA.
(I should say that apart from this problem the machien is friggin' amazing and a steal at $250. If I end up having ot use it as a wi-fi tablet it'll still be worth the money.)
