Comics I'm buying this week: Batwoman #10 - Losing interest. Casanova: Avaritia #4 (of 4) -- Hell yeah! It's taken awhile, but this series is really good.
Buying in trade: Saga #4 -- Looks like it has a lot of potential... I hope it succeeds.
BATWOMAN - (I had a toothache provoked brain-fart last week when reading the list of titles and read BatGirl as BatWoman. I realised my mistake *before* buying it at least - I am waiting to see how the rest of this current arc pans out before deciding whether to drop it) CASANOVA - (as well as a totally bonkers story, Casanova has one of the best letters pages in the whole of comics) DAREDEVIL - (not sure that I'll keep up with DD for much longer, I'm beginning to lose a bit of interest in it now) SAGA - (Just. So. Good)
yeah, it isn't a particularly interesting story (made worse by the horrid flashback flashforward flash sideways structure), hopefully Williams will be back on art duties soon.
probably grab the MARS ATTACKS thing because i love that shit and after talking with Layman about it, i think they are aiming for a specific 'feel' that appeals to me. also grabbing WALKING DEAD 99 to complete my 9 issue run and immediately post it on ebay in anticipation of issue 100 hype. these books are already selling for like $60, and its only gonna get better in the run up to 100, the highest ordered book of the year*
*totally unfairly calculated since theres 6 regularly orderable variants, plus two that are limited to 1 for every 200 copies you order and people are gonna flip all of those, completely flooding the market after the initial wave of high priced sales
BATWOMAN (Without Greg Rucka this thing is going downhill.) CASANOVA (The reason I am running from one side of the city to the other before my shift tomorrow/today.) SAGA (Great letter page, consistently weird, love BKV's tone.) WONDER WOMAN (The story's good, even if I don't care for the "Amazons are part-time murder rapists" turn Azzarello took a couple issues back. Also, I miss Cliff Chiang.)
Re: Batwoman -- I'm glad that it's not just me that hasn't been enjoying it. Someone was trying to convince me that they love it and I just don't get it because of the non-linear story-telling. That being said, it's one of those guys that always pretends that he understands everything better than everyone else. Which is really funny because you realize they have no clue as soon as you start talking to them about it.
Re: X-Club TPB -- Diamond says it's coming out this week but the stores that I can find that put a list up online don't mention it. I'm pretty sure my LCS was going to be bringing in a copy for me... maybe I'm thinking of the other store that hasn't updated their site...
re: Batwoman - I'm having trouble following it for two reasons, the first is that the non-linear storytelling is made harder to keep track of by virtue of the visually awesome looking but confusing layouts. Maybe if I wasn't so thick or the story was clearer, I'd be into it, but it's hard to keep track of the players. That said, there's a murderers row of pencillers, inkers and colorists on the series. I want to wait until the arc resolves before saying much more, you know?
I have a feeling that the current story will be much better as a trade... waiting a month between each issue makes you forget the details as to what's going on. That being said, as Ebullient pointed out, the constant change in pencils, inks, and colours will make it look a little odd as a collection...
