   @arklight Thats a huge compliment, so thanks for asking! I'd feel a little out of my depth starting a macro 'seminar' thread, but I'd gladly tell you anything you want to know via Flickr mail if you'd like? More than happy to share my findings.
   
   @everyone Lovely stuff all! Especially liking @dorkmuffin's first guitar shot. That's one played in guitar. Especially disliking idiotic double standards on the 'net.
   
   I'm on a short holiday back in the uk, where I managed to pick up a set of extension tubes. My macro is now even more macro! Here's a raw, untouched example hot off the filthy sensor. Really looking forward to getting home and processing these nicely.

   So, here's something I made. A big cardboard box, 3 rolls of black duct tape, one roll of white duct tape, one large piece of durable paper, four pieces of sketch paper folded accordian style, two pieces of foam core, two clamp lights w tracing paper, three pet collar clasps, and some clothespins. Tada!

    For the box, I just kind of winged it, really. I was hired to take some product photography, and I was looking online at lightboxes, and they were all ridiculously expensive and too small. While most were pop=up tent cubes, there was one that had a lightbox structure in a large briefcase.
    
    
    
    So I based my design on that, essentially. I asked in some stores and wandered the street and happened across this box (which had originally housed a ceiling skylight). I took out all the staples so it could become a completely flat peice of cardboard,coated the entire exterior in duct-tape, and attached a huge roll of paper to the top of the interior. This paper remains coiled when the box is closed, and only when the box is open do I uncurl the paper and tape it a flat surface, as it extends longer than the cardoard box does. For the accordian edges, I got two peices of cheap sketch paper and folded them in half x 4, taped two of them together, taped one end, and keep them closed with closepins for traveling. I only unfurl them when I am setting up. Keeping the box upright was difficult because the top edge of the box kept slinking downward, so i attached tape to the top and stuck it to a wall behind. This was not a good idea, and I kind of sort of might have ripped some of the wall off when I dismantled. I used clamp light I had laying around, and since I was using eco-lightbulbs, they don't get very hot, so I could use tracing paper taped to them to diffuse the light. The foam core pieces I'd intented to use in the front to bounce light, and the accordian edges I was going to keep as side walls, but what I was shooting needed much more space, so the fanned edges ended up as additional backdrop and the foam core worked as extensions of the floor. I bought some pet collars with plastic clips (like farscape vests) and gorilla taped one to each side of the box to keep it shut when upright for transporting.
