New week's releases are up at http://www.piccadillyrecords.com at some point today, if they're not already - just choose a genre from left and click "magic mix" to stream excerpts from the new releases.
still the new DYSTOPIA lp- its the sound of bleeding pure frustration and anger out of your eyes while sleeping in the burned out husk of a building. so crushingly good. hasnt left my turntable since i got it a week ago.
also, the LAWRENCE ARMS-ghost stories cd. drunken despair laden pop punk. oh yeah!
@radian; listened to it for the first time. Was familiar with most of the material on it, but their arrangements of afx and sqpusher were very interesting. Need to catch them live now.
also, forgot to mention the new MARS VOLTA-bedlam in goliath. seriously, this is what i was hoping would happen when they formed out of the ashes of at the drive in- and it only took , what four records for them to figure out how to cater to MY specific tastes? that was sarcasm by the way.
My assistant just hipped me to the grindcore scene, with 'See You Next Tuesday' and 'Dillinger Escape Plan' so we've been scaring the teenyboppers with them.
My radiator in my car blew up last night in Peckham, so whilst waiting for the RAC another friend introduced me to 65daysofstatic.
Watched 'Sunshine' last night and really realy really really really dug the Underworld/John Murphy soundtrack and was pissed to learn that its not available either on CD or download. Can anyone help?
1-i have sunshine waiting on me at home, still havent watched it. psyched to hear this soundtrack.
2-teenyboppers/fashion kids are the main crowd for see you next tuesday, so i am confused. 3-and while DEP is good, they arent really grind. there are a bunch of other threads with a ton of good grind/hardcore bands to suggest, so i will steer you there rather than start name dropping. yes, i am nitpicky, but its all in the name of being helpful :)
New Genghis Tron, Yellow Swans, and Grey Daturas is out this week. I am a mass of boners and pixels. I think I'm most excited for the new Ghislain Poirier on Ninja Tune. This will be massive!
In midwest electronic ghetto land I'm playing a show on Sat (in Ann Arbor, MI) and looking forward to trading for a few new CDs from the fromthegut.org crew.
Christ, all the teeny boppers I work with like R'n'B or nothing. See You Next Tuesday kills them.
haha, good point. i was being kinda snarky. check older listening threads, as well as the EXTREME MUSIC thread for some ideas. or just listen to KUNG FU RICK! ohhhhhhh yeaaaaaaahhhhh. and man, im fuckin psyched for that GENGHIS TRON, but also broke. looks like the vinyl will have to wait while i burn it from a friend.....
