    Made a Horny Werewolf Day CD for my Beloved that had a mix of oldies (Cure, NIN, REM) and new stuff, including lots of gypsy fiddle music.

    In the process of researching it, I have come across stuff that I am listening to at length: early Bebel Gilberto, Enter the Haggis' Live CD, The Poozies Retrospective, assorted works of Les Yeux Noirs, my older Marty Sexton stuff (as old as stuff I recorded live from performances in the early '90s), MC Solarr, and acoustic Chumbawamba.

    I'm liking what I hear of The New Sin and Dabrye from Piccadilly. I am digging through E Music and finding cool stuff, from The National to some Mediaevel Baebes stuff I had not heard. When I realized that the organizer of MB was in Miranda Sex Garden I went back and listened to their stuff too. Lots of exploring the past this week!

    Nothing specific this week actually, been just letting iTunes loose on shuffle (which is usually dangerous for me).

    The only thing I've been giving a specific listen to is Burial - the first few times I listened I didn't really like, but after giving it a second chance I really like Untrue, and the self-titled is starting to grow on me too.

    I've actually been avoiding the new Mars Volta album because when I really, really fucking like an album I tend to overplay it and grow sick of it really fast (example - I did it to the latest Tool album, my favorite band, and couldn't listen to the album for a month about 6 weeks after I got it). So I given it a good listen once in a while (usually every other day). I was also kind of waiting for the vinyl to come out, which it did recently, now I'm just waiting for the record store to GET it (bloody Newbury Comics...).

    I AM looking for suggestions on something to check out though...

    Insect Warfare - At War with Grindcore 7''

    Thought I'd burned myself out on the whole brutal death / grind thing for a while, but this came to hand when I was looking for some brief pre-bed listening and it's hitting the spot rather nicely. 7 minutes of pure fury.

    I've also been listening to that Burial album. And the new Apes and Androids (still) and Leonard Cohen's Songs of Love and Hate. And this song in my head that 60 Watt Kid played at their video shoot on Saturday night. Weird Tropicalia dancehall/dub track with unexpected toasting. Damn, I wish it were on record. Now.

    I'm way behind on demo listening and got through over 40 today. Only the last two were halfway decent. Sigh. Figures.

    I just found a *ahem* 'copy' of the 'Sunshine' OST. My two year old has forgiven me for the KUNG FU RICK horror of an hour ago.

    Hopefully the soundtracks lushness will get me thru another dull day at work.
