I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who was sickened by the Deadpool trailer.

Also, @Morac, I agree that the two extra voices has to be the worst thing to ever happen to the character.

Remender just straight up ignores the convention in Uncanny X-Force and it makes him much more akin to when Nicieza was writing him on Cable and Deadpool before Daniel Way got his hands on him.

And now for something completely different-

PSN this summer. I could use a nice dungeon action romp. Please don't suck.

Yeah, I really miss the Joe Kelly Deadpool that I loved, before the bizarre, Ennis-y one we have now. The game looks like, "Hey, Deadpool is popular! We could move about a million units before even trying!" Manufactured excitement, etc. :/

I.O.N: STEAM SALE. Gets me every time!

I was slightly interested in the Deadpool game... until I saw the trailer. I don't think I'd completely hate playing it, but I can just forsee them not recording nearly enough quipping. God, the amount of talking they're implying Deadpool does is gonna be even worse if he keeps saying the same things over and over and over.

This reminds me, I haven't really read much of the older Deadpool books. I probably should, I take it.

Older Deadpool is pretty awesome. Everything up to and including Cable and Deadpool, really.

Yeah, I've got to agree. Part of what makes me so mad about all the new Deadpool stuff is that I legitimately liked him back around the Nicieza era. Then he showed up in Ultimate Alliance, then all the fanboys started jumping aboard, then they started pandering, then they decided that the more random you make something, the more funny it is. Now being a Deadpool fan lumps you in with people who love memes and think "SCIENCE!" is the best catchphrase ever. What Deadpool used to be was more of a self-aware, ultra-violent Spider-Man.

I made the mistake of reading the words "Steam sale" here, and started ooohing and ahhing over all the cheap games. I mentioned Monkey Island 1 and 2 being ridiculously priced, and then the fella goes and gifts it to me, not even using our joint account to pay.
    He's so fucking sweet.

That said, I'm already stuck, and I haven't done anything yet but talk to the pirates.
I like adventure games, but I am terrible at them. :(

Don't feel bad about using walkthroughs for old adventure games. Those things are absurd as fuck.

I've spent around $70 on the Steam sale so far. I'd give a list of things I've purchased, but it's just going to change in a few hours. I'll do a big tally at the end.

RE: Deadpool. I think it all went wrong after his appearance in Wolverine Origins (the comic), but that appearance on its own wasn't bad. It didn't have the characterization that Kelly and Nicieza had, though, and from that point forward that's how everyone has written the character. It's too bad seeing a character redacted the way they've done to him.

About sums up my experience with the sale so far. Stoked that I'm getting stuff I'm excited as hell to play, but the unplayed list gets longer and longer...Valve has effectively tapped into exactly how I want things to be: digital download, organized, played anywhere I can access my account. Valve is doing what publishers of all media should be doing.

I've been playing a lot of Saints Row 3 lately. Enjoying the hell out of it, as it has definitely been letting me vent some frustration.

Unfortunately, now I have the song from this stuck in my head:
    Saints Row the Third

I know own Alan Wake ^__^ I prefer console gaming to PC just cos the controls work better for me, but I couldn't refuse $10 for the pack.

no, but I remembered just after I started that we have an xbox gamepad and it works with the game, so I'm set for console controls on the PC :) Thanks, though!

I've got a standard Xbox gamepad hooked into my PC and I use it for pretty much anything that isn't FPS.

    Steam sale damage-

Red Faction Armageddon and its expansion
Batman: Arkham City plus Harley Quinn expansion
    Fortune Summoners
    The Walking Dead
    Vessel
    Tiny Bang Story
    Space Giraffe
    Gridrunner Revolution
    Alan Wake and American Nightmare

That's actually not as bad as I was thinking it would be.

(Full Disclosure: I know nothing about games. The last one I played was Sonic the Hedgehog on a borrowed Megadrive back when it was the in-thing. But I saw this, and its references to Steam, whatever the bally hell that is, couldn't find it mentioned here already, so... Profuse apologies if this is yesterday's news.)

Valve boss Gabe Newell calls Windows 8 a 'catastrophe'
Operating system Windows 8 will be a "catastrophe" for PC game makers, according to Valve Software's boss.
Speaking at the Casual Connect game conference in Seattle, Gabe Newell said the next version of Windows could mean big changes to the PC market.
Many took his comment as a criticism of the changed user interface in Windows 8 as well as its built-in Windows Store.
The Windows Store could dent the success of Valve's own online market, Steam, through which players buy games.

Dear lord, suddenly got reminded about Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exodus and am now really really missing those games.
