I've noted that these TV threads aren't really huge traffic drawers, so I'm going to extend them to three month spurts, at least from now until the end of the world year. So, anyone watching anything in particular? I'm still following Eureka and will probably watch Warehouse 13 when it starts up in the same time spot.

I recorded a few episodes of Leverage, Season One, that are running on the "Ion" network. Primarily because they're available there in HD. I hope they hold up.

So, Breaking Bad returns next week. It is almost a given that things will not end well for Walter White. The big question is, who is going to go down with him?

The Disney Channel has a new cartoon, Gravity Falls, that based on the pilot I like a lot. It is a "place where weird shit happens" show. A sister and brother are sent to work for their great uncle for the summer. He runs a "Mystery Spot" type tourist trap in the Oregon wilderness. In the pilot, the girl gets a crush on a slightly older hoodie-wearing "bad boy" whom the brother thinks is a zombie. (He has a book of monster knowledge, similar to the Wessel guidebook in Grimm, or the diary in The Spiderwick Chronicles.)

    As it turns out,
the boy is actually a whole bunch of garden gnomes who want the girl to be their queen. And hey, gnomes vomit rainbows!

I never got into Breaking Bad and it's probably too late to do so now. That said, I might give that Gravity Falls thing a shot.

@Johnjones: It's never too late. I only got into it a couple weeks ago and I'm ambivalent on having waited so long to watch it. On one hand, it is awesome and intense, some of the best current TV, on the other hand I didn't have the long waits between seasons and could just gorge.

    Plus there is this:
Amazingly badass, while simultaneously being hubristic, self-delusional, and a little sad.

I watched all four seasons of Breaking Bad for the first time over about a month last fall. It's never too late.

I'd say its the perfect time. Start watching from season 1, by the time you finish season 4, season 5 will be almost done and you'll be able to watch five seasons straight through. Yummy.

Do this. This is a good plan. Yes.

I'm mighty ticked off at Nickelodeon. They scheduled, and then cancelled, Friday-repeat showings of The Legend of Korra (Followup to The Last Airbender). And I don't see any repeats on the DVR schedule.

I know I can watch episodes online, but I have a big TV and would like to be able to watch the episodes in full res on a large screen.

Alas, the second half of Breaking Bad S5 isn't until next year, so running through it all now would still leave you with 8 more to wait for.

"It is almost a given that things will not end well for Walter White. The big question is, who is going to go down with him?"

My question is whether his son, who's so far been naively untouched by the ripples of Walter's corruption, will be an eventual casualty. It would be nicely ironic if by series' end he still thinks that Walter's the World's Greatest Dad.

    I'm sticking to my theory:
that Walter will end up alright, but his family'll get offed. Then he'll just be left with the baby.

    This is a great list:
25 Things You Didn't Know About Mad Men
Freddy Rumsen is played by Bill Murray's brother!

And holy crap, Lane Pryce was played by Richard Harris's son!

Loved the Eureka finale, especially the not so subtle digs at those cancelling the show.

Regarding Korra- is it bad if I say just torrent the thing? .mp4 format, dump on memory stick, play on PS3/360. Simple, full-res, easy to do and looks great.

@James: It will likely come to that. I've torrented episodes of shows I've missed in the past. It just ticks me off that "promised," scheduled showings are replaced at last minute with some piece of crap, like the further adventures of Kung Fu Panda.

The premier of Leverage was just OK. The gimmick struck me as extremely unlikely, based on a whim of the producers when they realized that a certain historical artefact had come to rest in the Portland area.

@StefanJ: Re: Leverage. Agreed. Except for the Adam Baldwin cameo and Elliot's reaction to the Brew Pub. Those were awesome.

Oh . . . FWIW, I've been to the museum where the Spruce Goose is on display:
    Spruce Goose 1
No, they do not start the engines once a year.
It is, on the other hand, one fucking enormous airplane. I needed three photos to capture the span of one wing.
If you click through, there are a few more shots of the museum, including one of me and my co-workers posing in front of a SR-71.

Emmy nominations are about as much as a trainwreck as usual. Notable absences include Community, Louie, Parks & Rec, Justified. Community managed to only pick up a nod for writing (Remedial Chaos Theory) and Jeremy Davies got nominated as a guest for Justified, but Neal McDonough is mysteriously absent.
