    I'm surprised no one here has mentioned this groundbreaking news yet.

    Physicists Find Elusive Particle Seen as Key to Universe

    So I guess it was worth it to turn on the CERN Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. I think.
    Too bad Congress lost the nerve to fund and finish building the even larger "Tevatron" here in America in the early 90's.Who knows what we would have found out by now.

    Well...no.
    A particle consistent with the expected mass of the Higgs boson has been found, still lots of work to do to confirm it.

    I heard it was only called the God particle, because calling it the "GodDamned Particle" was going to offend sensibilities in some book.
    I think we should call it the God-Damned Batman Particle.

    @Rootfireember
    You are correct!
    To quote from the book itself:
    ...I have given it a nickname: the God Particle. Why God Particle? Two reasons. One, the publisher wouldn't let us call it the Goddamn Particle, though that might be a more appropriate title...

    @ZJV- totally what I was thinking of. :D

    I can't say it's so much ground breaking news.
