In an attempt to actually get ICHIDO done before I am 100 years old I have switched to a digital workflow. Picked up a new tablet after retiring my 10 year old Graphire2. This is the first of hopefully many images coming soon for my book. Spoke with Steambot studios and they were very positive about what I have so far, they may even publish it.

self portrait of sorts

I’d been working on a self portrait of sorts; something to use on a business card or website background or something. It was to reperesent me, the fact that my hand are failing and I switch them up when I draw and paint, so between them they equal one hand; and my eyes which are failing and dilate asymmetrically and cross inwards. I’d posted a photograph of my pencil sketch, and a friend wanted it as a tattoo. So I inked it, scanned it, cleaned it up and fixed the proportions, and voila! My art, my own representation of me, is on someone’s skin for life. Weird, huh?

I couldn't agree more with DorkMuffin, I really have to push the outline thing out of my head when in a life drawing class. The angry German lady making 'tsk-tsk' noises behind me helps.

Dude, not as good when we have dude model. For some reason they never seem as relaxed as most of the women models, but even an uptight female model can kill the vibe of the room. It's interesting to me how much the mood for the model can effect the artists.

From that, I think next week I am going to bring less fussy tools, tools to make bigger, broader marks, to force me to draw more dimensionally. Sometimes I do that with a piece of charcoal in each hand, using both at the same time, to force myself to make a mess.

I published a new book called "The End of the Line", 60 pages of strange short strips and surreal artwork. I did a perfect bound 8.5 x 11 inch publication and was really happy with oversized look and feel of the book.
