I enjoy the hell out of Cullen Bunn, Kieran Gillen, Jason Latour, Matt Kindt, Joshua Dysart. They are all established indie authors that have done mainstream titles lately.

I look at Jonathan Hickman as a man with a mission, he seems to treat comics like a business, and is charming, so perhaps he might break into a very popular place.

There are so many great creators that are churning out wonderful material. In effect, I believe that the creators you mention, on top of their wonderful works (although perhaps not Ennis), have also a large dose of savvy for creating a mythos around themselves, and I do not know if any of the writers I have mentioned have that quality.

I guess we'll see.

 WILD CHILDREN by Ales Kot is the finest piece of comics writing I've experienced this year. Absolutely mind-blowing. Shocking, clever, funny, dark, tragic... it's fantastic.

 the only Brand New To Me guy that sticks out this year is Kurtis Wiebe (Green Wake, Intrepids, Peter Panzerfaust, Grim Leaper and Debris.)

yeah, Panzerfaust is kind of a high concept that screams 'too 'clever'/adapt me!', but ive been very impressed with all of his other work.

 I segregate very heavily by writer/artist, so Kelly Sue DeConnick and Ales Kot are the only relatively new writers who leaped the hurdles. And I'd say Kot more than DeConnick, since her Osborn was collected in 2011, I wanna say. I'll also say Patrick Kindlon.

 Ales Kot who's basically brand spanking new, has really got my attention.
Also, Brandon Graham, has really brought it with Prophet, also the re-issue of King City, and upcoming Multiple Warheads. Yeah he's an established indie, but this has been his year.
There's other writer's and artists that I've really liked this year, but I don't know if I'd put them in the category of the original post.

 @ebullientsoul & @kperkins: Thank you, gents!

This might interest you: NEW STUFF just got announced.

Standout writers of this year for me, although mostly not that new: Brandon Graham, Matt Fraction (for Casanova, Hawkeye & Iron Man), Garth Ennis (The Boys), Jonathan Hickman (his Image work), Grant Morrison (the Batman stuff), Brian K. Vaughan (Saga), Joe Casey (Vengeance, Butcher Baker). Joe Keatinge's writing on GLORY has flashes of greatness, and it's getting better with every issue.
