    Glenn Beck's open letter to Matthew Bellamy

    Now, I despise Glenn Beck and the tactics he uses, but you have to give it to the guy: when it comes to self-aggrandizing polemics, they guy sure knows his business.

    @Greasemonkey

    Pink Floyd shows will be a thing in 400 years' time, the same way orchestras perform the work of Bach and Mozart now.

    It's a thing already. There are multiple unrelated traveling Pink Floyd tribute bands that put on full fledged big venue shows. I have a friend who's only live music excursions are to go see Pink Floyd performed, and he is able to do his at least once or twice a year with different bands.

    Also, @Hex - whoever was belly dancing inside that wookie deserves an award. It cannot be easy to make an abdominal undulation read that well from under a shag carpet suit!

    @Bill - Yup, Floyd shows do pretty well, and there are some good ones around. Australia in particular has a long tradition of tribute bands, being off the major USA/Europe tour circuit and routinely being skipped by the big acts (too far to travel for not enough money).

    @Bill/Greasemonkey

    But instead of live musicians the Pink Floyd shows of the (not even that far distant) future will probably be holograms... ;-P

    And speaking of Bellydancing I dunno if anyone has seen this: awesome bellydance/popping fusion

    @ grease & bill (and Floyd) -

    Agreed, and I would add The Beatles and possibly Elton John to the list of composers the Future will respect on the level of the Dead Germans.

    @ sneak - *YOINK!* Awesome is RIGHT. I've made fun of mimes before and I don't usually go in for this kind of thing but that's worth seeing.

    USAF strategist wants us to become Kardeshev type-2 civilisation, says we should make billion year plans:

    "It isn’t enough just to plan for two or 20, or even the fabled Chinese 100 year periods. We need to be thinking and planning on the order of billions of years. Our civilization needs inter-generational plans and goals that span as far out as we can forecast significant events."
