Yeah, the Mormons and beer thing for instance.

I'm guessing the majority of Romney supporters aren't Mormon though.

I'd say Stumbleupon's data is a bit broad and the Hancock thing makes me think they aggregated that data from a wide time frame. Then they desperately looked for divisions for "fun!".

I like the ephemera of the thing though.

    This is more newsy:

Spanish speaking citizens told the election is on Nov. 8th

It was the Tosh.0 vs. Louis CK thing that seemed wrong to me.

I just feel itchy whenever anything comes up of "this group likes these things". Sort of ignores the whole people being different thing.

Hell, I know right wing conservatives who love watching The Bird Cage and liberals who think Harry Potter is a bad influence on their child.

    Also I don't like Radiohead. :P

"It was the Tosh.0 vs. Louis CK thing that seemed wrong to me."

Yeah that was one of the ones that seemed way off to me too. Tosh.0 seems like a thing frat boys would be in to and maybe I falsely equate frat boys to young Republicans.

I prefer Zepplin, Louie CK, Batman, Marilyn Monroe, and not a Romney supporter. And when does diet and excersise become an either/or thing?

Also, Obama voters like Dark Knight but Romney voters like Batman?

And here we are given a valuable lesson about when to apply modal statistics and when not to.

i dont really like the 'hahaha, funny' levels shit is getting to. its trivializing something that is a fuck of a lot more serious than the memes its being shuffled into

also, on a more offensive personal level, a lot of it is just hacky, bad comedy

Tonight Romney said that Syria is how Iran accesses the sea. On stage during a presidential debate. At this point, making fun is a reflex action to preserve sanity.

Have there been any attempts to spin or defend the Iran/Syria comment? I mean, it's not quite as bad as Palin thinking Africa is a country or that the Queen command's Britain's armed forces, but it's getting there.
  5.  (10833.232)
I'm sure they'll spin it as a metaphor.
    • CommentTimeOct 23rd 2012

Can't really see how they're going to put a metaphorical spin on that.

I guess at a push you could argue it's a route to the Mediterranean (and therefore Israel).

Still dumb though given Iran can already hit Israel with the gear they already have.

"Saint Louis is the gateway to the West." It doesn't mean that you literally have to physically go thru St Louis to get there. It's a metaphor.

I think it's more likely that Mitt just got Iraq and Iran confused on a map, but "he was speaking metaphorically" is always a handy defense when you say something that's not literally correct.

Well, you see, Iran is going to use its nuclear weapons to BLAST A CANAL right through Iran and Syria to the Mediterranean, where it will dominate Europe with the mighty fleet of triremes which is has been amassing since King Xerxes' times.

Ah, so that's why we must have more bayonets and horses. To combat the triremes.
  7.  (10833.239)
You know, the Iranian navy has more triremes than it had in 517BC.

They'll go after Greece first, and finish the job the 300 kept them from finishing.
