    @RenThing When I was in NYC in June I found a bottle at a specialty beer shop. It had just been bottled the month previous.

    @Oldhat

    Ah, ok. Yeah, they had a list of some really, really good sounding beers, ranging from $35-100 for a 22ml bottle but you had to drink them there. I have a bottle of their double DBA in my frig and it's going to sit for a few more months.

    @RenThing:

    Man, it's getting harder and harder to tell just what parts of mock conservative dialogue are actually sarcastic, partly because the party message seems to be getting more self-contradictory and frazzled. Knew you were being sarcastic at the end, at least.

    And hey, I didn't say Romney's Latino comment made sense, just that he made it. ;) See above comment on the party line getting steadily less coherent.

    I love that the variety of drinking games allows you to either gamble on which collection of phrases is the most likely to appear, or just completely decimate yourself by playing all the variations at once.

    I feel like "With all due respect", "Trillion," and "Jobs," along with fan favorite "Freedom," all stand to be killers this time around. I wonder, will they go with false cordiality or open hostility tonight?

    Ren's Ultimate Debate Drinking Game (compiled from all the other drinking games, plus some additions)

    You can play one of two ways, either you drink when your guy says something or the guy you aren't voting for says something. Trying to do both at once will probably kill you with booze and who wants to go out being known as the guy who died because he drank too much during a lame presidential debate?

    Take a drink if either candidate:
    - Addresses his opponent in the 3rd person
    - Compliments his opponent's personal life or family
    - Ignores a question by addressing the audience
    - Argues with the moderator
    - Mentions any of the following: unemployment, jobs, taxes, "With All due respect"
    - Drinks water
    - Writes on their notes

    Take a drink if Barack Obama mentions:
    - The Auto Bailout
    - Killing Bin Laden
    - "Better off than 4 years ago"
    - The Troops
    - His Mother
    - Says "Let me be clear"
    - References Bain Capital
    - Blames the previous administration
    - Says "Milloniares" or "Billionares"
    - Mentions Bain Capitol

    Take a drink if Mitt Romney says
    - Ronald Reagan
    - Champion for Small Business
    - I'm for the 100%
    - "Not better off than 4 years ago"
    - The Troops
    - His Father
    - Touts his plan to create 12 million jobs
    - Says "entrepeneurs" or "small business"
    - "private sector"
    - References "My friends"

    Special Rules
    - If a candidate goes over their allowed time DRINK UNTIL THEY ARE STOPPED BY THE MODERATOR
    - If either candidate says Romneycare/Obamacare, RAISE YOUR DRINK - the last player to raise their drink must finish it
    - Finish your drink if Obama brings up "47%", "Cayman Islands" or "Swiss Bank Accounts"
    - Finish your drink if Romney brings up "doing fine", "Solyndra" or "Redistribute"
    - Finish your drink if there is no end-of-debate hug or handshake

    Uh, can I get a livestream of the debate? I don't own a TV and I'm in a university library for the next foreseeable two years of my life. Anybody?

    If there isn't *already* beer somewhere in that library right now, I'll eat my hat. Just go around and bust someone unless they share.

    Are you fucking kidding me?

    Edit: I read that as "220ml", which I assume is what you actually mean, but still, absolutely, are you fucking kidding me?

    @256

    Nope. Parabola was about $35 for me. So was this wonderful stout from Italy I had a while ago. For what it is a lot of them are either very special one-offs (like Parabola, which is brewed once a year), special imports, or beers that go through a hell of a complex process to be made (also like Parabola). It's one of the reasons I ask for donations to the tip jar on my site now and then.

    Christ, I do hope that they get someone else to moderate the next one. The man himself even admitted that he did a shitty job.

    *pours another drink*

    Oi, what a thing that was.

    I kept wanting to scream "WHAT STUDY?!" every time one of them described their facts as coming from "a study" or a variation thereof. If you're going to battle with hard numbers, you have to say where those numbers come from. Hell, even some of the trillions (I was right about that word being a big winner for drinks tonight!) of tax cuts comments at the beginning could easily have been cited. I mean, why on earth would Obama say "Romney stated this" then not bother to add "it's on his website as we speak, in fact, if you want to go check it out, Viewers At Home!"

    I did not watch the debate. I simply drank an entire bottle of Tequila Rose and hid.

    Some of you know what tequila does to me. You can imagine what is happening to my mind right now.

    I missed it all because I was sleepy. The Guardian is calling it for Romney though.

    I liked the fact that the moderator lost control of debate. Debate's, to me, are suppose to be a kind of free for all, but I do wish they would come up with a format where the candidates would ask each other questions instead of just attacking the others positions.
