Got my first marks back. 10 outta 10, 6 outta 6. (err, 10% and 6% of an overall class grade.) This grad school thing is aaaaaaaaaaaalright.

Also convinced a boy to travel six hours to see me for three days, which too was pretty badass. He made me pizza and talked dirty about Italo Calvino to me.
Also I got offered three jobs this week. I can't take them until the end of the month due to MASSIVE BUREAUCRATIC FUCKUP that I can in no way insist be rectified even a little bit, but still, it's a nice thing.

And then I went to see a screening of the animated adaptation of Dark Knight Returns, and ANDREA ROMANO WAS THERE! omigosh. She's amazing. I've got such a lady crush on that woman.

Feel like a husk of a human; got the worst room in this stink-wank of a rehab, shared with a bloke who is strangos extremos.

In the hills, beady-eyed good-ol'-boys, not too fond of my London cess-wankery - serious Hills Have Eyes/Deliverance brain-crunching pain.

Wrote this on my facebook, but here it is too because SHARE THE HUGS.

Feeling better than I was yesterday (been going out of my mind with loneliness and boredom due to being stuck at home recovering). Got a couple of calls from friends, did a bit of art, made the shift from more serious films/shows to comedies (rewatching Idiot Abroad and I can tell you, it doesn't get old) and my friend Mike from NYC was a darling and is sending a Bavarian Hefeweizen kit to me (which I'm considering putting keylimes and peppercorns in to).

Other plans: May end up taking an online course for SmartServe, which will allow me to work in bars. Also will be asking questions to Niagara College. Also more art. And I'm considering some writing.

Bit by bit.

I had a great time at Baltimore Comic Con, my plan B since I couldn't afford DragonCon. BCC is only two days and that was disappointing on paper, but once there, I think it's just the right length for that show. I wouldn't mind some Friday time, but I was there all day Saturday and Sunday and was ready to head home at the end of it. I found Denis Kitchen and almost got a Will Eisner piece from him, but had already committed to sketches from Fransesco Francavilla and Matt Wagner (The Shadow from both of them), got some Tom Strong pages from Karl Story (one with Ordway pencils) and found a Tony Harris Starman piece I liked and went overbudget on. Also, $5 and $10 hardcovers are the best, because while I asked Marvel to slow down with the Dark Tower comics, they have not listened, but I will be all caught up soon, and for a bargain.

I also splurged to see TOTEM outside of D.C./Maryland, and it was worth the extra drive and expense. My favorite of all the Cirque du Soliel I've seen live (only 3). They move like superheroes, or gods at times. And then there might be a little error to remind you that there is risk in some in it, and you lean forward again. I miss being a magician in hobby, but I've kept my nose in magic and circus arts in books and events... Some acts are very simple things dressed up that I used to sell at the magic shop, and others are just... OH MY GOD That's Beautiful. I'm a sucker for Cirque.

Too short a weekend, but I needed to get away, so it was a good one.

Damn, had a weird moment yesterday. The obvious weird was that I was in one of the premium art museums in Finland in the opening of Iron Sky exhibition, and seeing the old Star Wrecks running in a space where I'd been enjoying Gallén-Kallela and Russian Avant-Garde earlier this year was definitely jarring.

I had never realized that I had never gotten sort of personal, visceral sense of completion and closure about that job until I went into one of the booths and saw a short version of the making-of documentary running there. Sure, the film came out, but that's not really something I had a whole lot of input over, my job was the PR and making-of, and I needed to jump ship before that was completed. So, the whole thing was still a weird unfinished goop in my head. Watching that short piece of documentary I could finally point at something concrete and go "that shit right there is what I busted my ass over for two years". I hadn't really realized I had needed to do that. Feelsgoodman.jpg.

Check out that artists list. Fourth row, between Jonathan Horowitz and Amy Jorgensen? Yeah.
Also I dropped off the last bit of work for it today. A little artists book made with wood, ink, felt, thread, menstrual blood, and cotton paper. I'm honestly really happy with how it turned out.
One week until the opening! Eeeeeee!

hex: I'm sorry, I was away for a while. What happened to your cat? Did it go missing?! I'd get really worried if that happened to our cats. Cthulhu is scared of his own shadow (Ironic name, I know) and Vera needs daily medication. I'd be agonising like crazy!

Myself, I've been doing a lot of film and photo shoots over the year and just got back from the latest photo shoot. I was half-submerged with another model for a romantic moonlit shot among the seaweed. She was supposed to be dead, but it didn't work with the area we ended up shooting in. We were all of us shaking with cold as we slowly made our way back to shore in our underpants over the slippery rocks and seaweed in near pitch black, but I think the photos came out quite well. Can't wait to see the finished shot in about a week's time. The photographer is young but very talented and is studying to become a cinematographer right now.

HOORAY FISHELLE!!!!!!

Been a bit crazy. Still at home and I've been doing an okay job of fighting off some severe depression.

But this weekend a friend came by to visit. First he assured me that an e-mail I sent to a person was "the best thing I could have said", which...was good to get an assurance. Then we went to an English Goods store and bought some scotch pies, crisps and branston pickle, headed over to my local for a nice meal and watched some funny videos. Was good to get out of the house and out of my head a bit. Though I wish I had more of those Pickled Onion crisps.

And today I watched Cabin in the Woods, which provided some much needed smiles and for dinner I made up a back bacon butty with HP sauce. Delicious.

So, small things. But I smiled a good amount this weekend. And christ, did I need it.

I'm not very good about posting in here, despite believing that it'd do me a world of good to focus on the positives.

BUT LET'S DO THIS. I have the next two days off (after some really shitty days at work, so even better), and tomorrow night I'm going to see Stolen Babies and a couple really great local bands in concert.
I've been slowly recovering from a major breakdown this month (which resulted in another, incredibly similar breakdown last week), and I think I'm getting somewhere close to being on an even keel again. So that's good.

Also I had watched Gilmore Girls so the fact that there was a character who was named Dean who was not played by the guy named Dean was REALLY confusing.

Right now it's still kinda sorta taking itself seriously, but I'm in to it enough to burn through several episodes without really noticing and have already developed a crush on Dean. So...yeah.

Am just wondering why everyone in that show seems to live and work with REALLY dim lighting. There was a scene where bugs cut the power to a house and I was surprised that anyone noticed that the lights were off.

Had a great time last night seeing Stolen Babies. The two openers were bands I already loved, so it was one of the best shows I've been to in a while (despite the sound guy being an idiot).

I cut my own hair the night before yesterday, and I did an okay job. I finished and thought "hey! this looks kinda Mia Wallace, that's awesome" but last night I realized I may have been subconsciously going for the-lady-in-this-video's look:

Which is even better; I'd rather be enthusiastically playing an electric drum kit while jumping around in an evening gown than having an OD and telling bad jokes about tomatoes.

I slept in way late today, but all I really have to do is some errands (including mailing off a card to flecky!). So that's really nice.

@oldhat & dorkmuffin: I watch Supernatural from time to time and I love how non-seriously they take themselves. Even when they are in the middle of a serious dramatic story arc, there's bound to be and episode or two that are really goofy. I also like that they are fully aware that their main audience are nerdy women and embrace that fact. I would like for them to have more kick ass female characters that stay alive, but considering that the show is banking on the fact that the two main characters are hot men to be drooled over, it doesn't altogether surprise me.

And I have vile happy huggy things to say, but I'm going to create an october thread or something.
