What, we didn't have one for September? Get yours in while you still can.

Here's mine, in the form of two pieces of wood and various metallic bits.

    The body is ash:

The neck is obscenely pretty birdseye maple (and that smooth Tadeo Taper makes me feel all funny in my pants region):

    And here's a quick & dirty mockup:

I'm thinking translucent black for the body. A few oddities under the hood to come.

GIVE US YOUR GOOD THINGS NAO YUS

    @ everybody - TAPHEAD FUCKIN' ROCKS, Y'ALL!

Me? Oh, not much. Back on the Internet and continuing to play the Quality Lit Game, in the immmortal words of my absolute, all-time HERO, Terry Southern. Nowadays, it doesn't take much to impress the masses and believe me, I've got how little it takes! Branding myself as someone one can't live without? That's the IDEA.

The best part? THERE IS NO CRYING IN WHITECHAPEL. And Warren fucking HATED this thread so ... yeah.

EDIT TO ADD - "I'm as merry as a schoolboy!"

Got my first marks back. 10 outta 10, 6 outta 6. (err, 10% and 6% of an overall class grade.) This grad school thing is aaaaaaaaaaaalright.

Also convinced a boy to travel six hours to see me for three days, which too was pretty badass. He made me pizza and talked dirty about Italo Calvino to me.
Also I got offered three jobs this week. I can't take them until the end of the month due to MASSIVE BUREAUCRATIC FUCKUP that I can in no way insist be rectified even a little bit, but still, it's a nice thing.

@ ALLANA - you've always been 10 outta ten and at least seven outta six in my books. (Bonus points for being so awesome.)

Today, Neil Gaiman tumblr-liked a photograph I took of him at CBGBs 7 years ago.

And then I went to see a screening of the animated adaptation of Dark Knight Returns, and ANDREA ROMANO WAS THERE! omigosh. She's amazing. I've got such a lady crush on that woman.

13-days-of-clean: I was called a cunt the other night by the youth of Stroud. Is there no respect in this world? Not for this old bastard.

I just stormed out from a group, giving it the big, "Fuck this shit! My head - it hurts!"

Feel like a husk of a human; got the worst room in this stink-wank of a rehab, shared with a bloke who is strangos extremos.

In the hills, beady-eyed good-ol'-boys, not too fond of my London cess-wankery - serious Hills Have Eyes/Deliverance brain-crunching pain.

Give me a hug, people; flecky version 2.0 is only human. This is where I make myself all vulnerable - I'll put the address of this place up when next on here, if anyone wants to send me...stuff?

    HELP!

I will send you mail, Flecky! I love sending real letters. ((HUGS)) though it might be a better idea to have interested people email you instead of just posting an address, cos :internet:

Stroud is lovely. my parents live nearby. if you get to escape, go up to rodborough common above the town. I imagine the youth of Stroud are less likely though.

have had a totally shit day, but am about to heal myself with cheese. Roquefort and brie and a nice goats cheese

Wrote this on my facebook, but here it is too because SHARE THE HUGS.

Feeling better than I was yesterday (been going out of my mind with loneliness and boredom due to being stuck at home recovering). Got a couple of calls from friends, did a bit of art, made the shift from more serious films/shows to comedies (rewatching Idiot Abroad and I can tell you, it doesn't get old) and my friend Mike from NYC was a darling and is sending a Bavarian Hefeweizen kit to me (which I'm considering putting keylimes and peppercorns in to).

Other plans: May end up taking an online course for SmartServe, which will allow me to work in bars. Also will be asking questions to Niagara College. Also more art. And I'm considering some writing.

    Bit by bit.

I had a great time at Baltimore Comic Con, my plan B since I couldn't afford DragonCon. BCC is only two days and that was disappointing on paper, but once there, I think it's just the right length for that show. I wouldn't mind some Friday time, but I was there all day Saturday and Sunday and was ready to head home at the end of it. I found Denis Kitchen and almost got a Will Eisner piece from him, but had already committed to sketches from Fransesco Francavilla and Matt Wagner (The Shadow from both of them), got some Tom Strong pages from Karl Story (one with Ordway pencils) and found a Tony Harris Starman piece I liked and went overbudget on. Also, $5 and $10 hardcovers are the best, because while I asked Marvel to slow down with the Dark Tower comics, they have not listened, but I will be all caught up soon, and for a bargain.

I also splurged to see TOTEM outside of D.C./Maryland, and it was worth the extra drive and expense. My favorite of all the Cirque du Soliel I've seen live (only 3). They move like superheroes, or gods at times. And then there might be a little error to remind you that there is risk in some in it, and you lean forward again. I miss being a magician in hobby, but I've kept my nose in magic and circus arts in books and events... Some acts are very simple things dressed up that I used to sell at the magic shop, and others are just... OH MY GOD That's Beautiful. I'm a sucker for Cirque.

Too short a weekend, but I needed to get away, so it was a good one.

    I love you freaky kids:

    Mr Fleck
    C/O: THE NELSON TRUST
    PORT LANE
    BRIMSCOMBE
    STROUD
    GLS 2QJ
    UNITED KINGDOM.

A card, a note, a doodle, american sweets you can't get over here, small objects of exotic origin, wee pictures to adorn the whites of my "cell", underground pamphlets about things only we can suffer, comics (I like 'em!), your latest novel...GIVE ME IT ALL!!

If you don't respond...I vill cry and bitch about you in meetings with the mountain addicts!!

Don't send crack or bombs or swamp-creatures or portable meth-labs or twisted porn or death-threats or letters pretending to be my long-lost love or vials of cat-piss etc.

    You know the score, yeah?!

I went kayaking yesterday, only 15 days off the shit; I capsized. It was both funny and human. I actually felt good for a micro-second; a micro-second being a very, very, very, long time for an addict.

Got to run. Take care, all! :)

Damn, had a weird moment yesterday. The obvious weird was that I was in one of the premium art museums in Finland in the opening of Iron Sky exhibition, and seeing the old Star Wrecks running in a space where I'd been enjoying Gallén-Kallela and Russian Avant-Garde earlier this year was definitely jarring.

I had never realized that I had never gotten sort of personal, visceral sense of completion and closure about that job until I went into one of the booths and saw a short version of the making-of documentary running there. Sure, the film came out, but that's not really something I had a whole lot of input over, my job was the PR and making-of, and I needed to jump ship before that was completed. So, the whole thing was still a weird unfinished goop in my head. Watching that short piece of documentary I could finally point at something concrete and go "that shit right there is what I busted my ass over for two years". I hadn't really realized I had needed to do that. Feelsgoodman.jpg.

@flecky - any special request with the American sweets? It may be a bit before I can send anything, but if I can, I'll be sure to include something along those lines for you!

So, this was in my email today.

    Photobucket

Check out that artists list. Fourth row, between Jonathan Horowitz and Amy Jorgensen? Yeah.
Also I dropped off the last bit of work for it today. A little artists book made with wood, ink, felt, thread, menstrual blood, and cotton paper. I'm honestly really happy with how it turned out.
One week until the opening! Eeeeeee!
How is this even my life right now?
