It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity. fact, it's time for SEASON TWO to begin in frightful earnest.

    Episode 23, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for paisley, not safe for safes, not safe for Admiral Fortiscue Bletchington.

Have the feeling the X-ed out former nun is hunting Shaky specifically. Want to know more about the X. Is it a mutation on the + disease? How can things get any worse for out heroes and for the world than they already are? I'm sure you'll come up with something, Si. You sick fuck.

As interesting as Theresa and her novel infection is, the guy with the beard struck me as being more interesting by his abscence. Why show us the X and the 2 +'s clear as day and then hide his face. Something interesting going on there. Enjoying the new art as well.

I wonder just what Shaky did prior to getting to Cava? Im sort of betting he let the others get taken by the Crossed to save himself, having learned valuable lessons from the Gamekeeper. Which makes me think he may still be alive too. Interesting stuff about whether someone other then the Crossed is out there and may be just as dangerous, look forward to finding out one way or the other. Good stuff.

I have been assuming the bearded guy is the Gamekeeper. The X infection, however, I have no idea about. And yeah @No Fear, I also figure Shaky had had something to do with the nun(and the rest of the group) getting killed / turned in order to save himself.

One alternate theory is that she's not actually infected, but she scarred herself in order to blend in and survive, being out for revenge against Shaky.

Of course, this isn't terribly likely... How the hell would you keep yourself uninfected while shoving femurs into your private areas in the company of plusface followers?

Unless of course they're not actually infected either. Again, a bit of a long shot.

Also, that would be the worst disguise ever.

I don't know why, but I didn't expect this episode to be so fast paced. Very good fun though, had a nicely cinematic feel to it.

Can't wait to find out what the deal with the exeds is. And Houton. And Viceroy, and andmoremoremoremore!

    Hell of an opener!

I'm kind of liking the "nun is hunting Shaky" theory. While it does make sense to go after a moving target (predators are attracted, after all, to motion) she could just as easily have lead her crew onto Cava for the easier pickings. She's smart enough to know that with fewer guns and fewer able bodies, the island would be easier to take. But no. She goes after the armed, fast, at least somewhat clever runners. Why?

'Worse disguise ever' lmao. All i hope with the different X on the nun's face that we are not headed for a crossover with Wolverine and co lol. Simon, without giving away anything, how much leeway do you have in making changes to the crossed universe?

Great start to the second book (and great finish to the first book, as well).

Props to the new artists Fernando Melek and Keith Williams on this chapter. They picked up the chore so smoothly I almost didn't notice we had a new crew on it. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing more from them.

Are we going to get different hands illustrating on each chapter?

Well, hey, crazy vengeful nuns aren't the most sane subjects to start with. I could see her deciding that the straight cross was blasphemic, and thus X-ing herself instead. Her plan doesn't have to make sense; she could've just been crazy enough to pull it off.

... if it were at all viable. And again, bare femur-screwing and hanging with apparent plusfaces... Yeah.

Still, having read the first three Crossed paperbacks, it's not THAT far-fetched for a group of people deciding to cross their faces and parttake in the crazy without actually being infected. At least for a little while. Hard to avoid fluids when you're running around naked and slobbering on various body parts.

I feel guilty because every week the story gets better and all I can think to say is "duh, that was awesome."

    Anyway... Awesome.

Did make me wonder: What would happen to a person if they did scar themselves and in stress and chaos induced insanity, try to BE crossed without being actually infected? (Okay so I doubt they'd actually be uninfected for that long after it but it was a thought)...

And then I wonder'd if we'd ever see O-faced people, so I could make a perverse tic-tac-toe set...

I'm sure there are some tumblrs dedicated entirely to O-faces already.

The corpses that had the grenades stuck in their mouths had an X scar on their faces. (Volume 1, Chapter 17, Page 13)
