@Britt: Thank you for the card you sent me, which I recieved today. It really cheered me up, it probably being the best thing that will happen to me today. Your cool pic of a chainsaw weilding cow will be on my wall tonight.

@Nelzbub: Once again, ta for ze book mate :)

Rehab is tough - really fucking tough. Yesterday, after only a few hours kip, I was awoken by some bloke giving it the Big-Fat-Recovery-Mouth-Ooze outside my hutch, which irritated my soul seriously. I went into tantrum mode, and nearly trashed the bathroom. Going downstairs, someone thought the fact that I've been having leg-cramps was funny; verbal dismantling was my course of action, and I stormed away thinking about leaving and how nice the wildlife round here would be if they all melted into liquid heroin.

Anyway, I stayed and I am now a month clean: Give me my bastard keyring, Narkotikus Anonymoose!

Keep at it, flecky. Christ, a month!

    Several good things happened today.

    - Bought my ticket to Cask Days.
    - Will have enough money by the end of the week to purchase my ideal brewpot, the hose fitting for it and, well, some hose. With this I'll be able to make amazing things. Like Imperial Stouts and Double IPAs and other beers I want to make!
    - My friend bought me a Bavarian Hefeweizen kit, which I'll be brewing with the new pot. Thinking of adding some blueberries and oak chips in to the secondary for flavour purposes. Should be fun.
    - Soon I will have my precious armwarmers! No, really. I love armwarmers. And with the weather turning cold my arms are getting chilly.

Apparently, I have a travel itinerary: Oct 26-Nov 2 I'm going to be in New Orleans to celebrate Halloween, then on Nov 5-9 I'll be in Lima, Peru to see the very first Lima branch of Dr. Sketchy's. This is poignant to me, because my family on my mother's side is from there, and I'm absolutely thrilled to get to share my job with them. I am deliriously thrilled at the amazing people in my life who are making this happen for me.

Now to get ALL of the work done before the most massive vacation ever. Also, if anyone happens to be wandering into any of my travel plans, would love to catch up.

@flecky - congrats on one month!

@Glukkake Woot! Travel safe and have a blast!! NOLA! Peru!! Good on you that all this awesome stuff is happening!! I'm so excited for you - I still remember you at the 14th street bar, tired from the wacky job with the Orthodox Jews and so very glad you kept plugging away. It's totally inspiring. }:>

Me, just something of a realization that if I aim to get anywhere I have to treat my time and activity the way I organize details for other people/projects when I manage them. I'm terrific at logistics for other people and for plays, but I'm awfully disorganized when it comes to me. And I realized it's a matter of perspective. I had rehearsal tonight and kept an eye on the weather. I realized to make it to rehearsal I'd have to leave mad early because traffic would be hideous. I was totally right. But, I can't believe how stupid a person has to be do this, I TOTALLY FORGOT AN UMBRELLA. I yelled in the car till I nearly deafened myself, "ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!" I planned all kinds of contingencies for rehearsal because of the rain but I forgot the part where *I* need to stay dry???

And that's when I realized when I think about third person/third party objects I can handle them ace. But I don't think of myself that way. I'm lost in my own forest, continually surprised by the trees. Ok. I get it now. Time to change that.

@GovSpy - Congrats and happy (some time ago) birthday!
@Flecky - Keep giving 'em hell mate.
@Oldhat - Home brew imperial stouts? Sounds brilliant.
@Glu - Travel. Nice! (What? Me, jealous?)

Me? I have a meeting on Friday with a literary manager, who read a screenplay of mine and said it made her laugh. The extra cool thing about that... it's a comedy. (Also lots of violence, blood, death and stuff... like I said... funny). I don't want to make too much out of this since the universe has been good to me lately and I expect some comeuppance, but for the time-being... hugs all around!

So this happened. Especially sweet as I was recommending my friend's book.

So this happened. (For those of you who can't be arsed to click through... and understandably so... I got a short story published in Weaponizer.)

    @Steve - Too cool.

OK, imma stop monopolizing this thread. Cheers all!

@Oldhat: Cheers, ma dear. I hope your taking good care of yourself.

Thanks flecky. Bit by bit, I suppose.

Got some nice messages of concern regarding my last open mic post. Thank you to those who sent them.

Have been called in to the office to put out a few fires, so for the first time in two months I'm finding myself back in the office (weird) and back in downtown Toronto (even weirder). Been getting readjusted to the office things (computer troubles, e-mail etc.) and after ages of being around no more than three people at a time my fear of crowds got ramped up to 11 being back in the city, but it's still nice to get out. I intend on going round to my local for a pint to mark my kind-of return to the world.

On another note after ages and ages of thinking about it and mulling it over I've decided that the tattoo design I've been thinking about for ages is for me and with luck, I'd like to get it done before or on my birthday. Essentially it's silouhettes of two ravens flying on my right forearm. The ravens in question are Odin's ravens Huginn and Muninn, which mean "Thought" and "Memory", which when it gets right down to it, are the two most precious things I have. I know I've mentioned this design before, but the only thing that's changed is that I want the birds to be silhouettes and am definitely going to get it done soon. Now just to find an artist to draw something that I can take to the tattoo artist...

    As an aside,

Was worn out on my first day back. Definitely will be easing in to things more. But I decided to go to my local...which was having a book signing with Stephen Beaumont and Time Webb on their new book "The World Atlas of Beer". I didn't have enough money to get it, but the owner of the bar, Rob, out of nowhere loaned me the money. So I got the book and got it signed.

"To The Thirsy (sic) Wench, May this spur the start of years of beer travels!" - Stephen Beaumont
"But remember, only one country at a time and no more than a gallon per session." - Tim Webb

And the book is amazing. My night was made.

    AWESOME pics, Dork!

Me, still going through my crap, but met up with some of the wonderful Toronto Whitechapel folks and got out of my head a bit. Also have 52lbs of comics to read through compliments of Hex and Greasemonkey.

Double edged hug-worthy: self-hate for my poor self-esteem and happiness at eating a Tasty Thing.

An actual McDonald's hamburger that was delicious. Naturally at a chi-chi McDonald's so who knows if it'll make to the usual ghetto McD's but all the same I'm better off not eating hamburgers and I didn't even mean to tonight I was just feeling like rewarding myself after the long day and meant to get ice scream but saw the poster... and anyway. Holy crap that was good. McD's burgers are usually such crap it helps me not eat them. I might be in trouble now.

@oldhat: I'm glad you got a pile of comics to read. Me, I've got to rely on 2000AD - once a week. Rehab/Stroud isn't exactly like going into London with the Big-Bucks to splurge on tactiles.

@roadscum: Thank you for the card, which was secreted to me after Mind-Fuck Group this very morning. I did a little dance, as things like that mean a lot in here.

I've been here now nearly 5 weeks; that's some weirdness right there. I've nearly finished the Focus Groups, where we sit and talk about...guess what? Not using.
*sigh* I'm starting other stuff now, so that should be...interesting?

Weak-as-Sin, but 42 days clean. The fight goes on.

So, I'm slowly trying to make the transition from translation to live sound engineering.

Tomorrow marks the first time I've been especially requested by the band, and one I've never even heard of.

I just found out they're on Blue Note.

(I'm doing something right, I guess?)

@flecky - Hang in there, mang. I don't mean this lightly, but you're fucking heroic.

Went to the gym for the first time since August when I had surgery.

I ran 1.5 miles and lifted weights.

Last month I got winded and tired by walking from the hospital to the car.

Feeling very accomplished. And now...time to throw up and fall asleep.
