    No it isn't.

The medallions are British army dog tags. The crucified guys are soldier boys (which presumably explains what the local Crossed were doing with mortars and grenades).

I've pretty much decided the crossed pathogen was man made. This is because it appears to have pretty much simultaneously started at the same time globally. I think it works rather in the same way as 'rabies' in that the victims develop an irresistable compulsion to do certain things - avoid water, bite, rape, torture, kill.

It doesn't really matter because the scenario is all about exploring the nature of evil / morality. The 'joke' is that the Crossed are mere cyphers. They cannot possibly be evil because they are in the grip of a horrible illness. They have no 'mens rea'. It's how the survivors cope with the desperate situations they find themselves in that makes this series so interesting.

i have a similar feeling about zombie filns, it's the survivors who are interesting. And yes, the uninfected have done terrible things to survive without the excuse of being deranged. Does that make them worse then the crossed?

'Does that make them worse then the crossed?'

To some extent, yes, it does make them worse. However, the extreme situations they find themselves in can provide a form of 'defence'. For example in the first arc Stan & Cindy kill the cannibal children. Was this 'evil'? It's debatable. That's an really interesting moment because it asks the question 'what is evil'? On the other hand the Game Keeper's shameless sexual exploitation of Agnes is clearly transgressive.

I'm enjoying this sick, nasty stuff. In my naffest hours, I wished a crossed would break into my rehab and do some horrible shit. Cheers, Simon.

And GK effectively murdered/tortured/worse the old people by deliberately drawing the crossed in, all because he wanted Theresa to join the party. Putting aside the probable truth of what he said about the oldsters being a liability etc, to my mind it does make him as bad as the crossed. I had expected him to kill them himself, getting the crossed involved was infinitely worse (and as someone said above could have easily led to the group being caught as well).
Im really looking forward to finding out the eventual fate of GK and what happened to Theresa. Im betting GK gets his cock bitten off, which would be poetic justice. But whether he is dead remains to be seen.

It amuses me when people try to logically analyze comics as if there is some immutable reality inherent to a fictional universe.

Best of luck with your psychological studies, scientific analysis, and scholarly research on Crossed history. But, frankly, it seems like a lot more fun to just go along for the ride!

And a hell of a ride it's been already (thanks Si!). Can't wait to find out what's up with Theresa and her Xed face. Also curious to see just how far Shaky has gone (and will go) given his conclusion that taking advantage is the key to survival!

People have been analyzing fiction ever since the first story was told. You can do this and still go along for the ride. IMHO of course.

I wonder if the X is just a sly reference to the fact Si is doing an X Men book for Marvel?

X-men/Crossed crossover. I'm calling it right now. And it will be glorious.
  7.  (10873.12)
Personally, I like the GameKeeper's new beard.

[You realize that the more we write Crossed guestimate stuff here, the more Master Si crosses things off his 'possible horrendous shit to do to my characters' list? Or maybe adds to...whatever, it's fun to watch.]

Keep up the good work, all.

I think that if Si had to drop things because people were guessing them, he would not be gleefully encouraging it. Probably would have closed a thread.

I may have missed a post or something, but just browsed through and didn't see this a skip week? (Not a complaint or anything, just curious...I know even the genius behind all this "digital-awesome" needs a break now and again. (I just can't help jonesing for my wicked fix!!)

I'm waiting to hear, tbh. I think it's meant to be an interlude week, but will let you know as soon as I'm sure.

I've been trying to work out the origins of the crossed, and I'm afraid it all seems to have started in some dark, foetid corner of Garth Ennis's diseased imagination. Then it was passed to David Lapham, and now, Si. Whether setting it down in these gloriously sick stories is a kind of therapy remains to be seen. I just hope that exposure to the details isn't contagious. Because, yanno, in that case, we're all pretty fuckered. Maybe the final episode will trigger the pathogen in everyone who's been exposed to the story. If so, thanks a bunch guys. Time will tell.

Remember that the scripts were written months before we saw the finished art. It's too late for Si to be trying to change things based on what we're saying here. Whatever is going on was plotted long before we started our feeble guessing.

Just saw your Youtube interview at the comic convention, Si. For some reason, I expected that you would be older. Maybe it's your name. 'Si' feels like an old man name to me, for some reason. Pleasantly surprised.

Will be picking up WYWH and Crossed Badlands on Amazon when Badlands comes out on Nov. 6. Want to get them both at the same time so I don't have to order twice. Would actually prefer to wait until Crossed TP 5 comes out as well and get 3 at the same time, but that one's not coming until next fucking year. You need to do your part and light a fire under somebody's ass, man.

    And question...

I am very excited to see that Garth Ennis is doing live action Crossed. Are you or Lapham going to be submitting any episode ideas,or is this a Ennis beast all the way through?
