   So the complaint, as I understand it from reading around, is that young women are taking the trouble to make sexy costumes based on comic characters, then modelling said costumes at conventions (and they won't talk to me because I'm a greasy-haired overweight neckbeard with no social skills and poor hygiene).

   To me the problem has always more been about people who go, "I just played Angry Birds for three hours, I'm such a nerd LOL!" more than girls who wear Batman t-shirts just because they think Batman is a cool character (because, honestly, who doesn't?) or someone wanting to dress up as something fun to dress up as. Also, if guys are seriously calling out every girl they see on their 'geek cred', they better fucking start calling out every guy, too.

   From what I've gleaned, part of the "Fake Geek Girl" dilemma is that it is seen as the "pretty people" coming in an playing on "our" playground; our playground being the domain of the ugly nerds who can't get pretty girls and boys, so it's just shitty of these good looking people to come and play and mock us on our own turf.Don't these beautiful people have enough places to play without infringing on our turf and trying to seduce us and then still cockblock us?
   
   Which just comes back to the self-hating stereotype of most comic fanboys, once more showing how comic fandom will take the opportunity to shit on new eager recruits rather than expand its ranks. The joy I've seen at anime cons compared to comic conventions for accepting everyone who is interested in comics is jarring.

    When another of Moore's old computer keyboards was put up for auction on eBay, last year, the seller hazarded that it "may contain otherworldy powers". It went for £461, despite having a faulty Z key. Walking in Northampton, Moore explains that his old keyboards have ended up on eBay, or in that museum in Charleroi, because he has had to decommission so many of them. He currently writes on an industrial-strength keyboard made of metal, properly meant for use in foundries and conflict zones. The plastic sort used to last him a few months before melting under the constant spray of cigarette ash, or otherwise breaking from overuse.
