It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 26, live and free-to-air.

[NB: In the final page of the final page, that speech balloon is supposed to be coming from the chap on the left. We'll get it fixed and updated ASAP.]

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for wood-texture laminate, not safe for that miserable fucker Eyore, not safe for the Flatiron Building.

"EAT. MAH. SHITE." I had a chuckle. Si, I read in an interview that Jackson is leaving soon, which is a downer, because he's so ridiculous and great comic relief. I am interested to see his story in Badlands though. Anyway, another great Thursday. Thank you, sir.

Im glad we had a bit of back story, would like some more if I'm honest. Nice comparison between the survivors and the Crossed with the laughter, after all that sort of attitude is what drove Shaky to go on the sortie. I think Si said in an interview Jackson disappears sso hopefully he aint going to die.

Very cool. Looking like a case of "Be sure your sins will find you out there".

Is it just me, or has there been no mention of all of the art where crosseds are attacking the island, which hasn't actually appeared yet?

I always thought of that more as "impending threat" sort of stuff. Hypothetical "This could happen at any minute" kinda thing, like Shakey in the watch-tower

Crossed riding on bikes to kill.

I'm glad that our friendly psycho-cannibal-rapist-freakazoids are eco friendly.

In all seriousness, loved this piece. What I like about Crossed is it brings those raw elements up to the surface, for good or ill. Skip has issues with abandoning his brother, but laughed at being alive, at escaping the trap with his family. That's real. Ugly, but real.

Also, you said in a recent interview Si how there was a possibility of exploring the Crossed world 10-20 years down the line. Would love to see that....Or not?

One final question: Given that there were some nuclear exchanges in the chaos and widespread burning of cities, given that all the mechanisms that needed human oversight have broken down, how does the environment look around this time of the story?

    Great episode.

But JEEEEEEEEEEEEESUS I HATE READING COMICS ON A SCREEN. Fucking HAAAAAAAAAAATE it. I may not be cut out for this whole whiz-bang 21c thing we've got going.

And now, if you'll excuse, there are children on my fucking lawn.

I take it you've supported the project by buying the print collection of the first arc then, yes?

That was most definitely a good one!! Loved the couple "blocks 'o mystery-man" - solid ominous-ity to it that gave me the frickin' creeps! As always, excellent job Mr. Spurrier...loving every minute. And for the record I dig the digital insta-release as well as supporting the cause in print from my local comic book store. (There isn't an "episode" yet that's been published that I don't have a copy of, save for all the possible covers.)

I love reading it on the iPad. Works perfectly on the screen and it's a sort of end of work, away from the grind computer, treat?!

I reckon Skippy's brother will turn out to be the "Typhoid Mary" who's been spreading all the filthiness and depravity we've been seeing here and there in this (otherwise, quite pleasant) strip.

The only thing that niggles away in the back of my head now, (and it's been growing incrementally since issue#1)
is how the buggery fuck did "Mammy's little Soldier" manage to get nuts deep in that bloody Dolphin's snotbox?

They're big, powerful animals, and I can't see how that poignant embrace of wrongcocked sexdeath could possibly have developed without (initially, at least) the implicit sexual consent of the Dolphin.

I've run through the possible scenarios in my pool head over and over again, and the sexualistic invasionment of a fully mature Cetacean's blowhole, is impossible. You can't just creep up on the fuckers, swoop in like Savile, then just ring them a Cab afterwards.

So unless you explain how it happened Si, you leave us all with the supposition that, far from being the intelligent, evolved, and self aware creatures that we've for so long, credited as having a capacity for intellect almost as great as our own, that Dolphins are no more than the huge, slutty fishes our Great Grandfathers always said they were.

I'm not sure if I can drag the soggy envelope of mammalian sexual credibility quite that far. . . . . . . . . (Yet)

I hadn't realised how much I'd missed my weekly full episode fix until now. Skip weeks are always good, but it's nice to see normal service resume. Looking forward to the Jackson-centric episodes of badlands too - I dropped it a few issues back but I'll be picking it up again for them.

I own and have read (several times) the Crossed: Wish You Were Here trade paperback, and found the art more condensed and darker than it appears via the web comic on my now modest 19" widescreen monitor. Never thought I'd see the day when I'd prefer reading a comic online instead of in a book.
I love Skip's background story, and am looking forward to seeing how the other members of this sortie, as well as the other current and former survivors on Cava, made it through the outbreak and to the island. Shakey's flashbacks to London, starting in episode 2 of volume 1, remain for me the highlight of not only this web comic but of all Crossed stories that have been published so far.
Jackson's an interesting action hero, not just because of his insanity-spawned courage but also due to his unabashed deviant proclivity for sheep. The latest episode suggests that the sortie would have failed in a most gruesome manner had he not volunteered to tag along for at least a part of it. Of course, if or when he gets infected, then the at least slight security afforded by the island's isolation will evaporate given his cunning and survival skills. He would surely be one of those superior crossed at a Horsecock level of leadership (despite his lone wolf nature) and intelligence.

Did I read somewhere Jackson's backstory is the plot of the Crossed Badlands Annual?

Also is that guy at the end of the episode in black with googles a crossed or not? i'm confused

I agree with D Ramon - I am eager for the "histories" as well, save for Seline who can take a stray bullet or a stray Crossed...dunno why. Just don't care if she pulls through, heh heh.
