It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 27, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for Lego, not safe for Derek Laud's unique business model, not safe for the TaxMan.

Huh. Well now, who's this guy?

(I like Tabitha's theory, by the way. Though I'm a little skeptical of it precisely because it's somewhat comforting).

Tabi's explantion seems to click. And her story is the first time I've felt sorry for a Crossed. The fact that the Crossed was killed immediately by his mates lends credibility to Tabitha's story. Normal humans express themselves emotionally in a multitude of ways, positive and negative. Happiness and depression. Reds and blues.

But the Crossed to a one all seem to have a manic happiness to them. I remember when Shaky was talking about the first day in London. The emergence of the Crossed seemed like some kind of horrible frat party gone wrong. But eventually as the population died or Crossed, they became more sly and cunning, in a way.

What will happen when the entire population of Earth is dead or Crossed? The disease, beyond the initial deathstroke to human civilization is real species extinction, because the Crossed will never go beyond extreme violence and normal humans will never have any peace. Mankind is finished. The Crossed comic series is just the final journal entry of a dead race.

Si, I honestly think you are one of the best writers to work on the crossed universe next to Garth. Can't wait for the annual as well. Keep up all the great work!

Maybe Tabitha can set some sort of "Art therapy" workshop up, you know? Try to reach the buried goodness inside the crossed with fingerpainting, that's bound to loosen the impacted stool of emotional faeces the crossed are so obviously suffering from.

I mean, it's all very well for her to posit a theory like that, but surely, for the sake of veracity, we should have her try it out? She almost reached her Art class squeeze, even got a response, but it was quickly jumped on by his buddies.

Maybe if she tried some one on one cognitive Art therapy with selected crossed, she might manage to reawaken some sense of aesthetics in them, thereby kindling a spark of humanity and curing them. (If she can get through the lesson without getting all "Mrs Robinson"on them that is)
It has to be worth a try!

@ badbeast - no, it doesn't. Bad idea from the word "go". What makes you think rapeyfuckmonsters have a soul? Or that our little group of survivors does? Or ANYONE? All this little art therapy fantasy would get you would be to have your femur used as a dildo. On you.

@ Si - JESUS! You don't fuck around.

(I steadfastly maintain that scrollin' and clickin' ain't no way to read a comic book, though.)

Am I the only one wondering about the "song about bloody hedgehogs" ?
  2.  (10899.8)
Song about bloody hedgehogs, believe it or not, has an explanation. BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO BUY THE CROSSED: BADLANDS ANNUAL TO LEARN IT.

That's the level of soulless market-based crossover wanky nonsense we go in for at Avatar. You don't HAVE to buy the annual to understand *WYWH*, but the hedgehog song shall remain an eternal mystery if you don't. BWAHAHAH.

I dont think the school boy saying 'cunt cunt tasty custy' was him displaying any sort of soul or softness/goodness. If he had found Tabitha the usual results would occur. And having touchy feely crossed goes against the 'no hope, no cure' mantra methinks. Im looking forward to Viceroy's story if he gets the chance to tell it as Im sure it will be a corker.
Another good episode. Oh I have wondered who Jackson was prior to the outbreak, for some reason I keep thinking he was a priest (lol) so I will be getting the annual for his back story, shameless commercial monsters that Avatar are!!

Si, I gotta say, I am in love with this series so far. Your story "Wish You Were Here" is the only thing that keeps me coming back to the world of The Crossed again and again. It doesn't take the cheap way out with shocker page-spreads of gore and sexual violence (even though, yes yes, that's sort of required to a point in the Crossed world), but takes time to develop its characters to the point where you're actually caring what happens to them. I know that the world of the Crossed is supposed to be one of "No hope, no cure." and I'm certainly not asking for there to be any sort of cure, but I think that the former should have some wiggle room in the form of the Cava Crew you have developed in this storyline. I hope like crazy that you keep on taking the story in myriad interesting directions and don't take a cheap way out (which I don't think you would, from the looks of things). If things kept on in the vein of The Walking Dead where it just kept going and going, I certainly wouldn't be upset, that's for sure!

To me, what's truly intriguing and captivating about the Crossed universe isn't necessarily the Crossed themselves, but rather the situation. The ultimate test of survival for people raised in a rather harmless, coddling world. Seeing them deal with the obstacles - both material and emotional - is what really grips me in this storyline.

Keep up the amazing work, and I look forward to the next iteration!

@mister hex; My subtle sarcasm seems to have gone right over your head.
My aim was to suggest a scenario that would provide a fitting end for this vapid, self absorbed bimbo, trying in vain to justify dropping out of Law School to get an Art degree, just so she could shag underage boys.

It's just struck me that this might not be the first time Scotland has been infected. Sawney Bean and his incestuous Clan of cannibals plagued Galloway for over 25 years back in the early 1600's. No mention of a cross on their faces, although everything else seems to fit.

    "vapid, self absorbed bimbo"

That's pretty relative isn't it with the likes of Seline in the room? Besides would you kick her out of the bed with monsters at the door? I expect Shaky won't.

One of my favorite chapters so far. Excellent stuff.

@Si is it a song about that thing that never happens to the hedgehog, even though you can do it to almost every other animal ?

@longtimelurker; Seline is going to surprise everyone. Once she's worked through her issues, and she's all fired up on prayer she's going to be like an avenging warrior for Jesus.
And do you really think Shaky is going to "get some" any time soon? Or ever? Jackson is his Shepherd now.
  5.  (10899.17)
Yes Shaky will "get some." He's based on the author!

    @badbeast - WHO SAYS I AIN'T SUBTLE? cause I ain't subtle.

When might we purchase such a fine annual?

The Song About How I Stopped Trying With Hedgehogs And Settled For Sheep.
  7.  (10899.20)
@Beast - Naw, I reckon Seline will get Crossed. Come over all fierce and rapey. Either that or get eaten and make everyone feel guilty about feeling relieved.
