    Then it just appears??!! Really rubbish promotion & marketing
    for a huge show like this!

    The Battestar Galactica Prequel Blood and Chrome is to be shown
    as two 11 minute episodes every friday on the Machima youtube channel. There will be 11 episodes altogether.

    Having them on youtube means they can be embedded..:-)....

    What do you think? Reviews?? Here are Episodes 1 and 2 :

    "Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome Episode 1"

    "Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome Episode 2"

    It's in glorious HD, so if you are one of the lucky ones (not me!) to have an internet enabled TV, it will be like watching it on TV. two 11 minute episodes=22mins which is about the average length of a half hour American TV show minus the two ad breaks.

    Apparently the plan is to show these episodes, do a DVD release with many extended scenes, and if enough people watch it online, there will be a full series,(in other words if we like it we should tell our fiends, etc).

    It's very pacey, I don't know if i'll have the time to keep up with this, but here's a heads up for any one that nearly missed this (that includes me!)

    It was OK... but the way they had dropped-tool sound FX obscuring every time a character said "bullshit" really pulled me out of it. Once might've been bearable - by the third "bullCLANG", I was too busy laughing to care about anyone or anything in the show.

    @ Cat Vincent - That stuck out to me too. I'm wondering what they are going to do when there is a scene that there isn't anything around to make a clanging noise. What if they are in the middle of space in a viper? Is one of the characters going to rip an especially loud fart to cover up the swear word?

    I have to agree with the sound censoring!! If the language is that bad don't have it in the script or use a made up word like frakk, like they used to. Maybe someone is trying to stamp their stylistic mark on this series. But from the comments below the Youtube videos above they're going to have to have a re-think!

    I really like the pace, they're really going for it, no slow setup, right in their, they've learned from the successful format implementation of the H+ Series
    on Youtube. In my view the first proper understanding Hollywood has ever shown of the attention span, pacing, and style that the internet TV generation
    wants. The very fact you can watch youtube videos on TV and Mobiles in HD quality has meant Youtube has become the biggest broadcaster of Audiovisual
    content on the planet. It always weirds me out when I goto my youtube dashboard and it tells you people have watched your videos on TV.
    It's a huge game changer.

    4K (nearly 4 times HD) is already enabled on youtube , that's the resolution for cinema (in actual fact you can project nice cinematic images in 2K).
    So Youtube could become the biggest distributor of theatrical releases. They've already got the technology. We just need the home projectors to watch it
    in 4K.

    The weirdest thing about the censoring is that they used it for 'bullshit' and 'asshole' which are words that no longer require censoring on American television. I'm hoping it's something done for the Machinima edit, and they'll drop it from the TV broadcast of the edited together movie version.

    And to cross post something I said about it in another forum: The stuff thats bugging me most about it so far is how much of the Galactica doesn't really feel like Galactica. That is not the Galactica CIC (unless sometime after the war they decided to cut it down to about a third of its original size), and that flight deck is about three times higher than Galactica's ever was. And while she's a big ship, there was no indication at any point that there was a fucking monorail system that had to be taken from the flight deck to CIC in the series. I realize that the original sets are long since struck, and they didn't have the budget to re-build any of them, but surely they had the blueprints to work from to build the digital sets, and they shouldn't have gone as nuts with them as they clearly have.

    I enjoyed the first episodes well enough...but like David, I was struck by the feeling of the sets. It very keenly felt like a virtual environment. A lot of backdrop, but very little interaction between the actors and the set. Which made it just feel small and a bit cheap to me. And I agree, the Galactica didn't look much like the Galactica.

    I don't think anything well ever capture the gleeful paranoia of the first season...but a good franchise must never be put away totally I suppose.

    They're not required to be censored on cable television, but still require censoring on broadcast television. FCC rules do not apply to cable stations. Broadcast television can get away with using those words, but if the station decides to use it, it puts the onus on the station to prove that removing the language would alter the artistic value of the program.

    Question, as some one years behind I'm only mid way through season 3 of battlestar...this web series, any spoilers to it?
    Basically, can I watch it now or should I wait till I finish the series proper?
  5.  (10904.9)
    Supposedly they were planning to address some of the unfinished plot threads from 'Caprica' in this, and (depending on what degree they do that) those might comprise spoilers for Galactica, so you might want to steer clear until you finish BSG.

    @Peter Kelly

    At a bare minimum, I'd hold off on watching this until you see the tele-movie which opened Season 4, Razor. That has some young Adama flashbacks that are set in the same time period as Blood and Chrome. Not sure to what extent they'll connect (if at all)...but it seems an obvious area for possible narrative thread connective tissue.

    And after watching episodes 3 and 4...I'm liking it a bit better. I like the co-pilot character quite a bit. Still struck by some of the costume and set related choices which strike me as a relatively budget. But it is only a web series...so what can you do. If this were to continue as a series, I'd hope that they'd focus on building a cracking good war series rather than continue to mine Cylon Evolution/Theology which can only get more muddled as they dig into it. I won't hold my breath on that point...but that's my hope at any rate.

    Yes Episodes 3 & 4 are contained in the one video above

    @Mangler

    The reason the sets looks so virtual is because they tore down the sets, an even auctioned the props at the end of the
    finale of Battlestar Galacticas final series. There was no real set to go back to. Same sorta thing happened to Babylon 5
    which is one of the reasons why there hasn't been a successful reboot.

    Nobody wanted to keep them in an expensive warehouse on the chance someone MIGHT make another series

    I have been looking for a release date for this show to air, and I was quite surprised to find out that Sci-Fi or SyFy, or what ever the fuck they are calling themselves these days, has decided not to air the show. They have decided to air the one episode that we are currently watching as webisodes, but after that there is nothing to continue with. NBC Universal, who owns what ever the fuck they are calling themselves, has declined to pick up the series "because the economics do not work out".

    Enjoy this while it lasts, because it seems that this is all there will be.

    Appreciate the heads up. Enjoying the series proper, so I'll stick with that till at least Razor before checking the web series out.

    Bloody hell, ALL OUT ACTION EPISODE...

    "Battlestar Galactica Blood & Chrome Episodes 5 & 6"

    The pace in this episode is insane.

    It riffs off the famous Star Wars ice planet HOTH scenes.

    This all links into the previous re-imagined Battlestar Galactica serie's backstory about the
    mystery of the kind of experiments that were forcibly done on humans and
    other animals by the Cylons, This is tiieing up alot of loose ends...

    First look at the new Cylons CGI for this incarnation of the series.....
    As every episode, not a moment to breathe, clipping along, like the old skool
    saturday morning black and white serials.

    And here is the finale.

  7.  (10904.17)
    Hrm. Kind of terrible overall, and introduces way too many continuity issues to make any sense. Spoiler:
    the Cylons can't have an early model Six prior to the Final Five arriving, their experiments with fusing biological material to Cylon technology were in the super-early phases when the war ended in the Razor flashbacks, and only resulted in the weird proto-Hybrid. Even the centurion model was too advanced for that stage of the war. VIPERS DON'T LOAD INTO THE GALACTICA'S LAUNCH TUBES THAT WAY. I'm willing to let the extra guns on the Galactica's exterior go because it's the height of the war and they could've been removed in a post-war retrofit, but seriously, it's like the effects team didn't even watch the show for reference.

    @DavidLejeune

    The problem with prequels, any prequel, is that retro continuity issues always pop up. Some of the Galactica redesigns were interesting, but they didn't look anything like the Galactica that we'd been seeing for so many years. And if Raptors had tailguns, I think that fact would have popped up at some point during the main series.

    So yea, I think the series was a bit slight. The CGI flight scenes were diverting enough. But I'm not sure there was ever enough here to make a series out of.
