    In honour of Psy becoming the first South Korean to have a number 1 for Gungnam style

    even though he can speak perfect English, he smashed the cultural barriers and proved music really is the universal language.

    SO BRING US NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING MUSIC YOU LOVE.Not instrumentals ...;-)...
    Every genre, every country, every style. Just let it be a good tune!

    Firstly, I suggest checking out our Listening thread. There's usually a pretty good mix of music there.

    Secondly,

    True.old hat! The listening thread is the best musical pick and mix probably
    on the net at the moment. There's alot of music on that thread!I just wanted to be more specific.

    There are also loads of bilingual artists , some of them Korean, who insist on speaking in English
    (of course it's a bigger market and is the closest we have to an international language), but he didn't,
    he chose to rap in Korean.

    What's more interesting is that it was the audience who sought out and embraced something so different,even if it is a form of Korean pop. That song wasn't promoted in the physical world (not online) till it was already ridiculously popular and it just get's more and more embraced.....

    Found lots of nice music in French once I took the extra trouble to figure out how to search for it.



    Olöf Arnalds is amazing with voice and guitar



    Digging out a couple of really obscure languages, this attempt at mainstreaming reconstructed norse shamanic chants is weirdly hypnotizing to me:



    And the complete version of the theme music to HBO's Rome actually has lyrics, in ancient greek.



    You'll want to avert your eyes from the comment fields, though. Putting anything with deep cultural roots on the net attracts nazis like piss-ants.

    Maybe i could have expressed myself differently, and no, i'm not a yank.

    It's just this interest in non English music feels very different from other times a song has
    burst through, like "Joe La Taxi" by Vanessa Paradis or that "Macarena" song.
    This doesn't feel one off, or niche, or novelty, but a very popular wave of interest.

    And even more wonderful, it's not just appealing from non English speakers to English speakers.
    Things like the Korean wave is appealing to Latin audiences too, on a mass level.
    That's right from korean to Spanish,creating a rise in Spanish people learning Korean,
    just because they want to access the culture. Music did this!It's all good !
