Am I okay to kick this off, seeing as how it's turned December here in the UK just now? Do let me know if not.

In the process of having my ribs stabbed over and over again with a needle dipped in ink for two hours:

Post-stabbing:

I'm not overly happy with the result. I'd heard good things about the tattooist, but while he was a lovely guy, his detailing is shoddy and he couldn't even make the lines that cross behind others match up on either side. I will have to pay someone to even this out at some later point, and I do want to let them know that I'm not entirely happy with the result.

The shadowing is nice, though, and no tattoo is perfect. I'm just disappointed as this is by far the best design I've ever created, and when the finished tattoo doesn't live up to the original, well...

EDIT:
For the record; yes. It was incredibly painful. The line work was the worst, as it's deep in the skin and every full section of line is done in one slow swoop. When it was high up near the chest, I was clenching my teeth and concentrating heavily on breathing. The shading, by comparison, was a breeze (though still more painful than any of my other tattoos) and I was singing along to KISS and Soundgarden throughout that part of the session.

It's a great design magnalus, just needs a little touch up.

Last months SPIT died after 7 days, we need more themes.

Anyone here do Movember? Keep it going! This is over a year old, but it started to come together around 3 months.

Two years after buying these glasses, getting them scratched and getting contact lenses, I finally don't mind how they look on me.

@ Magnulus- You're in Scotland right? It would be remiss of me not to recommend CUSTOM INC in Glasgow for all your future tattooing needs.
Run by one of the best human beings I know, and staffed by some of the best young artists in the business, I particularly think Ema Sweeney's style would be able to do something special with, what isn't really a bad tattoo in the first place.

I got an "orthodontic splint" which is a term for a pretty heinously bulky retainer that shifts your jaw. I'm supposed to wear it as much as possible (though not when eating or drinking). As a result, I've been feeling something like the fellow above.

As if I needed any help looking young. Grr.

Oh dear lord, I had to wear that after I finished with my braces. At some point, my dog ate it, which was annoying but also a bloomin' blessing. For some reason, I found it more annoying than the train tracks (WITH RUBBER BANDS!) I had to wear before it... Oh dear. I just remembered why I didn't have any girlfriends 'till I was 16.

@Magnulus, the kicker is that I already had braces. When I was 12. This is substantially bulkier than my post-braces retainer, and I'm gonna get braces after I'm done with this. HAaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha [weeps uncontrollably]

Dentist stories! Finally, as of this week, I have one!

I have pretty unremarkable teeth for the most part, no straightening or etc. required. But on Monday I met a dentist I can finally attribute some personality to, mostly in that her name was Kathy and she was freakishly like Kathy Bates in Misery. All with the "This is for your own good" and "This hurts me more than it hurts you."
Essentially, I have the tartar of a backwoodsman trapped in a bunker with a lifetime's supply of twinkies and no floss. She got it all, apparently, because my gums aren't even bleeding after six days of obsessive flossing, but I spent the rest of Monday not being able to eat solids. The inflammation, oh, the inflammation. Terrifying(ly successful) experience.

@dork - aren't awesome boyfriends amazing? I was having some awful skin issues for a while and my boyfriend was a total trooper about it, it didn't phase him one bit and he was awesome at comforting me when it started to get to my self-esteem.

It's been a while since I've done a SPIT, because I was feeling total SHIT about my face since about late september. My dermatologist gave me some stuff to deal with some skin issues I was having, and it ended up making my skin look even worse for a while due to the side effects- red, irritated, scabby and flaky (I'm talking bright red, flaky spots all over my face). Eventually it started to clear but there were some spots that remained red and flaky. I'm taking a break from the creams and FINALLY my skin is better, and I can actually make it look really good with some properly applied makeup.

Anywho, my first SPIT in a good while

That support is so important in a relationship. When you're in a relationship and that support ISN'T there, it's in many ways worse than being on one's own. I'm really happy to hear that the two of you have had the good side of it. You're both awesome and gorgeous people and deserve it. :)

@taphead - yes, hand tattoos are definitely susceptible to wear, but you can just get it touched up every handful of years if you feel that's the right spot. A tattoo that size won't be very expensive to upkeep.

For the first time in . . . well, eleven years, which was the last time I moved . . . I'm not flying back East to visit friends and family on Christmas. I'm using the holiday as an excuse not to pack, or unpack, or paint. I might see a movie, or just lie on the couch and read.
