    Wow, that is a tiny list. I'll take a look at Mara, but will probably use the week to pick up some GNs such as the new Grandville or maybe the re-issued Batman/Judge Dredd book.

    First: Merry Christmas!

    Second: Respectfully, that's not my point. My point is: DMZ and The Massive are most powerful when they're read closest to when they are originally serialized, because they're commentary about the world around us. That's not to say they don't have resonance when they're collected and have spines thrown on 'em, but because of their subject matter when you get to them makes a difference, I think.

    There's also a flaunting of normal behavior in reading a single issue of a comic in public that I think still appeals to the man who wrote Channel Zero fifteen years ago. In the case of DMZ or The Massive, with an obvious agenda, it goes doubly.

    Yeah, okay, that all makes sense. And you are right, it has more impact and is more timely if you read them right away.

    Mara was going so well until she lifted the netting at super-speed and it fell back into resting position at, apparently, super-speed, all while the volleyball hung in mid-air.
