It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 30, live and free-to-air.

Jasper, you fookin cunt. Have a feeling he's going to meet a bad end. The world has gone to shit and you steal from your group and take off on your own. Smart people call that burning your bridges. Is having that minor amount of power worth lowering your chances for survival?

Do like how Shaky assumed Richie killed Jasper. He just wants to know the kid did the job right.

    Keep up the pain, Si.

Now we're in some meat and taters...while I felt like the prick did just take off I found myself hoping Richie HAD killed him. And along with Dethklok I'm thinking Jasper is definitely headed for a rough patch. Superb as always Si - thanks!

I wonder if that boxing glove we saw was that well-wrapped Crossed with the goggles? Also, trying desperately to decipher that letter. At first, I was thinking "God why the fuck would Shaky say that he was on Cava Island and give it away like that?" but upon consideration, i figure that the nun at the very least knows that there are people on the island, if not that Shaky himself was there. Also, very much enjoyed Si's misdirection(is he going to tell her to suck the GameKeeper's dick?) as well as the ultimate unfolding of Shaky's plan to protect her.

In view of misdirection, maybe Boxing Glove is Sister Teresa and the nun in the boat was an hallucination? For the life of me cant see why Shaky would be inviting the Crossed onto Cava so maybe Im right lol.

Ohhhh..., so maybe it's not the nun, but Shaky, who ends the Gamekeeper..., didn't see the love story coming.... :O

I can't imagine why Shaky would want to lead the crossed to the island, either, unless he's hell-bent on aborting whatever vestige of a dreaded "fightback" might be brewing on Cava at all costs. But then he'd be a monster even worse than the Gameskeeper. I have to hand it to Si: I really have no idea where this is going, and I'm interested enough to continue reading each Thursday morning to find out!

    Zee plot thikkens, ja?

I I understand that Garth Ennis has established some ground rules for his pleasant little Crossed playground, whether overtly or implicitly, such as that the notion of a successful "fightback" is foolish and just ends up getting the wannabe Max Max types sodomized and mutilated to death, their remains to be scavenged for loot by the more practical Stan & Cindy types. Another rule is that the number of surviving uninfected (assuming any survive; Garth's initial Badlands ark really threw a monkeywrench into the spokes, as did Jamie Delano's) by the end of each series is limited (2 is ideal and 5 is tolerated but frowned upon). I can see Shaky making it all the way through, as well as maybe Elisa and Tabitha. Not certain about Jasper's crew; maybe the female tank will endure. I hope we at least get to see the entire cast's super-secret origin story before they perish horribly and protractedly. Yet another rule seems to be that professionals with actual survival and combat training don't last nearly as long as the bartenders and waitresses, and the only medical professionals that do survive however briefly tend to be paramedics and never actual physicians, much less surgeons.

Yet again, I come back for more, and yet again, I'm left wanting more! Great story unfolding - thanks, Si.

Pretty sure that was no hallucination. She knows where Shaky is. I have a feeling the cow with the grenade in the beginning has something to do with her. Then she roams by when Shaky is on lookout. Then she pops up when they are on the boat at the beginning of their journey. But she's treading cautiously. Keep in mind she not crossed but X'd, which I'm guessing carries with it some level of superiority to a regular crossed. So she may have more self control, and a love, as the story is alluding to, to Shaky. Further, Why would shaky be leaving notes for her if she was batshit crazy and probably had no idea how to read at this point, or if he had no idea if she was even close by.

I saw an interview with Garth Ennis who said when coming up with the concept he wanted a monster that you couldn't fall in love with, that wouldn't go down the 'cuddly vampire' route, and that was one of the 'rules' he wanted when he agreed to other creators working on the property, so I honestly do not think we will be seeing any sort of sympathetic love story developing. But 'tis interesting to speculate none the less.

After the last Interlude, and who died immediately following it, I'm assuming the two people we were given thoughts on were those who weren't going to get much screen time in the future. So I think Jasper is soon to be amongst the dead or infected.

Loving how this story is turning out, loving the unexpected love story in the flashbacks (I don't think he's so much 'in love' with the X'd nun as feeling guilt over whatever happened to her). Nice to actually have a final scene beyond the scope of Shakey's experiences too - we spend a long time inside his head, even when he's being cagey about what's really on his mind, so it's always great to get a little glimpse of things he won't admit to in his diary.

The nun is definitely not a hallucination. I am positive she is not wearing the boxing gloves either. Trying so hard to decipher the letter contents.

The bandaged, gloved, and goggled Crossed handling the letters is obviously Doomsday heralding the DC/Avatar cross(ed)over in an attempt to get in on the Marvel Zombies cash cow.
