It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 32, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for the lost prince, not safe for lagavulin, not safe for bamalama gallery.

Viceroy's story had better be fantastic after all this delaying :P.

Very interested to see who this bandaged and masked man is- my first thought when he appeared last time was that it was, impossibly, the Aussie's brother. Now I'm not so sure...

Liked Seline's story. Don't like that she cockblocked Viceroy saying his piece though.

Especially as an American, I've seen women like Seline before. Kind of helpless in a way, which is tolerable in a normal world that has all the gears and parts moving correctly. But in a world gone mad, has a deep problem functioning. Seline seems the sort to be desperate for approval/validation, even now.

Not sure how much I like Seline being given whatever her mission is to make up for her first failure. Her having something to prove could lead to her taking risks and being reckless. Same goes for Viceroy and 'being lucky' with the Crossed. It's not luck, its only a matter of time. Everyone should know that.

Will we ever get to know Viceroy's backstory? Another good one btw, just who is that in the sub-Doomsday costume, can't see it being the gamekeeper (too altruistic) nor the nun (too well built), maybe Jackson's brother (if he has one). Anyhoo, roll on next episode.

I liked Seline cockblocking Viceroy because it was funny.

    I'm simple like that.

Was expecting an interlude so pleasantly surprised to see episode 32. Lot's to worry about:

    1) What the in whole wild of sport is with the 'boxing glove guy'? Is he crossed? If he is why is he protecting the Cava crew? saving them for later if he isn't? what's his story?

    2) No update on the loathsome Jasper. Is he off to Cava to make trouble for Shakey?

    3) re Seline. Drive the bus through the front gates of the fort? Is that the 'plan'?

Yes I think there will be an interlude next week though :-(.

1)I don't think boxing glove guy is crossed but along with my thoughts above it may well be Jackson anyway. Can't remember if Jackson disappeared before or after this person first appeared.

2)Hmm, I expect he will turn up duly Crossed.

    3) She may well be a 'lure' to divert the Crossed while the supplies go in. Interested to see either way.

Let there be an interlude. The creative team deserves it, especially after this episode.

Good Lord, what an episode. Pithy and absurd. Tragic and hilarious. Oh, and they are going to REGRET ignoring Viceroy, mark my words...

Viceroy has gotta be someone really important in the pre-Crossed world. He seems disappointed at being cut off yet incapable of doing something about it (because he never had to in the past?)

I'm guessing CEO of a major corporation, a big-wig in politics (after all, would you really recognize those guys on the street other than the PM or Pres?), or a former movie star/sports athlete out of the game for years. Probably not a famous writer, religious leader, or nobility as those are too close to other Crossed survivors. And big time lawyer is too obvious, unless Si has something really nasty (even for Crossed) in store for Viceroy.

In other words, I'm betting that the fact that everyone ignores him feeds into the theme that skills that were highly rewarded pre-Crossed are now mostly worthless and vice-versa.

Of course, he could be a bus driver just to screw with expectations.

On a related note, what are the biggest mysteries so far?

    I count:

    1) The Nun. How did she get infected? Why does she have an X instead of a +? What was her relationship to Shaky? What happened with the gameskeeper?

    2) Who is the boxing-glove dude?

    3) Why is Shaky leaving notes?

    4) What's happening in Cava? Seems pretty Crossed-proof but if the military survivors are still having a hard time even though they have plenty of ammo and know what they're dealing with...

    Anything I'm missing?

Where did Jackson sneak off to, and what's he up to?

The advantage that Cava has over Fort George strategically is that Cava is surrounded by water, with the channel between it and the much larger Hoy island too wide and its current too strong to swim through, whereas with Fort George can any crossed who's mobile enough to walk just amble right up to its walls. The Calf of Cava, a much smaller peninsula that's connected to the main island's body by a narrow isthmus, affords its survivors even greater protection after the isthmus is fortified and boobytrapped.

@JohnnyRocket and @NoFear I think the wrapped up guy is crossed. When he first turned up a couple issues ago(when jackson was still with the group and they were running away from the Crossed on bicycles), he laughed and the lettering was red and crooked.

Also @JohnnyRocket the Nun stuff is killing me. Dying to find out where Si is going there. I think it's pretty obvious that Shaky is leaving the notes hoping that the nun will read them and he can reach whatever is left of her humanity. He didn't start leaving the notes until Tabitha told her story.

    @blighty, yeah good points.
  8.  (10934.15)
@blighty: That wasn't the wrapped-up guy laughing, though. The word-bubble was coming from off-panel, so from some crossed nearby.
  9.  (10934.16)
Maybe the all wrapped up guy can better mingle with the crossed since his state of infection (or noninfection) isn't evident. Then again, how does he drink, eat, urinate, and defecate when he's so tightly encased like that?

Jackson just sloped off somewhere to shag some sheep. He'll be back when they start asking him for a bit of "commitment".
  10.  (10934.18)
NB: Twentythoughts et al - the word bubble was supposed to be coming from the wrapped-up-guy. I *think* it's been fixed now?
  11.  (10934.19)
    @Si: Nope.

    But good to know! :)

I loaned out my TPB of Crossed Psychopath, and thus can't reference this myself, so can anyone else confirm if, when Harold, Rick, and the girl (whose name I can't remember) disguised themselves as crossed, their word balloons contained dialog that had a crossed font?
