Awesome Neil, but what happened to his mutton chops? Are you scared that your obvious rip off of my Strongman character will be found out? ;) Something I drew in my sketchbook while watching World Strongest Man.
@NeilFord - The color work you've been dropping on top of your pencils is beautiful.
I've been following this thread the past few days, watching the advice and work on your piece, and been silent up to now because basically what everyone said was true - and your response proved it. Nuff said.
@NeilFord - Yeah, these two coloured drawings are absolutely stunning. Is it too much work or would you want your drawings painted like this anyway (if they were inked, that is)? I can't really paint digitally so this always looks impossible to me.
Thanks for the kind words guys, very much appreciated! @Iaviv - well, the problem is I'm not a very good inker, and by 'good' I mean fast & confident. Which is a pity, because I really like the dynamism of ink - I was always going to paint the work, and thought an inker art buddy would be the just thing to speed things up a bit. It still may be... depends on the nature of the narritive I arrive at I guess, but I'm pleased with these tests, and it's way quicker than me/3rd party inking and then colouring.
Speedwise, from pencils to finished , this latest one was about and hour. Gota luv the digital paint, no mess to clean up!
Been busy so it's been a while... catching up on the last few months, lots of great work here, but @Neil JEEZus, your coloured stuff is beautiful. I don't work in colour, and you make me hate myself for that.
In other news, I just submitted some new work to 2000AD. Again, been a while. This here's page 2 of a reworking of a recent Dredd tale- Payback part 2 from prog 1802, fact fiends:
