D'aaaaw I want to make one of those aliens my butler and give it a hug.

Also I want to dress it up. Alien videos will be the new cat videos for me.

I have never seen anything in my life that was in quite so dire a need of a "herp! derp! derhurp!" voiceover.

It seems more like a "HERPdedurpdedurpdedurp...DERP!" kind of voice in my head, but yeah.

Aw hell, folks, leave the poor xenomorph alone. I think its waddle has an adorable, hobbled Winnie the Pooh quality to it.

I played the demo of Gearbox's Aliens vs. Predator, but the gameplay left me so apathetic that I didn't complete any of the campaigns. After I successfully predicted what was scripted to happen in the first fifteen minutes of the human chapter, I moved to the alien campaign. But when I completed the tutorial by crawling through a conveniently accessible ventilation duct, I figured that plot contrivances were going to be central to how the story would play out, and put down the controller.

But I would be interested in playing a decent AVP game if it was based on the first Dark Horse comic.

As much as I loved the strange, selfish Art Deco city of Rapture, a floating haven for nationalism and American exceptionalism looks like it could be massive fun.

Also robots, horrendous giant birds and fire.

I've nicknamed that Xenomorph the derpomorph.

Apparently, according to Kotaku and a couple of other reviews I've read, that particular gif comes from the only really GOOD part of the single-player game. It involves xenos that only respond to movement, so if you stay still, they'll leave you alone. Also, the multiplayer is supposed to be pretty good for a little while.

The rest of the game, though? Eeeeugh.

That doesn't really excuse the crappy animation though...

So I'm going to pimp out an article I wrote-

    http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2013/02/17/kickstarter-report-card-part-4-of-4/

That's part 4 of a 4-part series on the year in Kickstarter, or at least the year from my perspective. It's got links to the first three parts at the start, after the first paragraph. Needless to say, it was quite an interesting year. :)

On the one hand, Killer is Dead looks pretty neat. On the other, it's got a line "Do you know what it's called when the moon passes in front of the sun?" I'm sure the action is good, and I like the style, but that's just terrible writing.

@James Cunningham: Now all that's in my head is nostalgia for ReBoot.

Played the demo for Journey and have decided to buy it.

Journey is pretty awesome. I don't feel like playing it again, but playing through it the first time (all the way through in one sitting) was pretty amazing.

Do make sure to play it online.

Anyone playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengance?

The title is goofy as hell, but the game is very fun, if slightly easy.

The VR missions are actually challenging and so fun(and frustrating).

Holy fuck @alan. So I actually just played Cherry lips and watched that alien tramp around for about 45 seconds. I laughed out loud, sitting here by myself, and God I needed a good laugh. Brilliant.

Pondering going and playing some Kingdoms of Amalur in a few if I can pry my ass out of this chair. Need to finish something before I start something new. Really looking forward to Journey.

Simpler architecture, a lot of fast memory, pretty decent GPU...

Developers are going to love it.

Marked improvement over how hard Sony stuff usually is to work with.

They haven't shown much, but nothing they've shown has been at all off-putting. Which is enough to make me happy.
