    @DavidLejeune: I'm with you. I can see why it's funny, or supposed to be funny, but my responsible adult takes over and can't watch it due to all the irresponsible things he's doing (what if the milk jug etc hits someone).

    @dorkmuffin: The amount states where the missed connections are at Walmart is depressing. Not a surprise that it's a bar for Wisconsin. Though I'm kind of confused with Alabama and Indiana. How do you miss a connection At Home and in The Car?

    @trini, you're looking at Georgia, not Indiana. And Georgia is TONS of highways so people spend a LOT of time in their cars. But yeah, Indiana weirds me out. House parties or incest are the most viable options.

    Not to mention if someone else, probably old and vulnerable, as they're quite common in supermarkets, genuinely slips on it, and, you know, dies. Which I guess would make them collateral damage for teh lulz. Do you get a little memorial on youtube if that happens?

    So, this happened yesterday

    and I missed it.

    I know there are regular BoingBoing readers here, so I'm hoping maybe someone else has an opinion here. My take is that, even if the videos had no reason to be there in the first place, the fact that they created dialogue and became part of a narrative means that they should've been put back up. You know? I've actually gone to the trouble of hunting the car-crash video down on What The Christ (from scouring the screenshots for clues, no less) just so I can figure out how offended I might've been.
    Self-editing sucks. Editing history on the internet sucks. Learning from your mistakes is great. Erasing your mistakes is stupid. Leaving that post up is cool, but it would've been cooler if they had taken the opportunity to deal with the issue as the phenomenon it is. Taking down youtube embeds is, I guess, a technical necessity/statement -- stop the trackbacks and etc.? But I don't think apologizing and then staying silent (and locking the comments thread) is the way to go. I guess I'm less on the side of those who bombastically proclaimed they'd stop reading BoingBoing for the lack of quality content and more about to bombastically proclaim that they're violating their own principles of Internet openness.
    Opinions? Am I ranting again? I'm ranting again, aren't I.
