I know Christmas is still far away, but I thought I'd give you guys this.

Ok, I just know "Head like a hole" and I've never heard that "Call me maybe" song (though I've seen it referenced many times) so part of the effect is lost on me but this is surprisingly well done... I wouldn't really want to listen to that another time though :).

This might be heresy, but I think I like the mashup version better than the original NIN. Granted it's not "Hurt" but that cheery little beat throughout the song offers an ironic counterpoint to the lyrics.

I feel like a bad person for laughing really hard at the last two minutes.

    @ taphead

What is that, exactly? It looks like an extra from The Office is trying to kidnap some sort of Asian Flower Hooker.

Turkish all-male oil wrestling - a tradition since 1372, it's the oldest continually competed sport known.

    And not at all gay.

There is something wonderful about the phrase "Asian flower hooker" and I'm going to now spend the rest of the week trying to work it into a conversation.

    Sorry for the double post...

As much as I haven't made anything in a thousand years, I've always been deeply fascinated by creative process. The Paris Review has a range of excellent interviews, mostly with famous writers. Here is one with Robert Crumb from 2010 (apologies if it is a repost), talking primarily about his work on The Book of Genesis - everything from the research he did to what pens and paper he used. If you have the time, it's a pretty darn good read.

There's a Turkish Oil Wrestler in Street Fighter 4... he's depicted with the usual cultural sensitivity videogames from Japan often have.

For the fifth episode of H?SHTAG$ -- our web series chronicling Internet-based music -- we explore the world of Tumblrwave. The microblogging site Tumblr has given a voice to a wide variety of artists in its short history: queer rapper Le1f, R&B new hope Kilo Kish and seapunk founders Zombelle and Ultrademon. What's fascinating is that, musically, there's not a ton that connects them. It's Tumblr: A site that offers them one of the best ways to express themselves.

I dunno if anyone else has been watching these but they are pretty fascinating looks at the world of internet music
