Because damn it, we SHOULD be able to count the good things.

    - Sun is out and the temperature has risen to a balmy 5 degrees here (Anything over 0 is considered patio weather in Toronto). The sun is helping the spirits.

    - Was handed a pork tenderloin and, with the use of a spiked hammer and several other things turned it in to several pieces of delicious pork schnitzel. Felt good to make something.

    - Slow going, but weight IS being lost. The tummy is going down and little features are starting to get more defined again. Miss pizza like the dickens, though. On this note too, walking is becoming my saviour. Nothing quite like the feeling of my booted feet on pavement.

    - I'M BACK AT THE OFFICE! Thank christ for that. Having something to do every day prevents me from thinking about shitty stuff.

    - I'm in talks with an award winning homebrewer and he's helping me learn more about making beer AND is helping me formulate a recipe. Am alllllmost done with a recipe for an American Brown Ale with hints of chamomile and lemongrass which I'm deciding to call "Manor House Intrigue".

    - On the beer note as well, cutting down on recreational drinking has been a good move for overall mood. And drinking cask beer has been better for my system (no carbonation in cask beer = no bloating).

Still having moments of extreme depression and stuff, especially when I'm alone at night, but things are starting to make me feel more happy or at the very least, comfortable.

Fighting my way slowly, s-l-o-w-l-y, through my own bullshit to get a goddamn grip on my life. Organized a calendar and I'm tracking workouts, what I've read, voice warm/workouts, classes. Soon (I hope) it'll have who've talked to, pointers given and actions executed afterward. *mumble*frumble* play is keeping me from a lot of shit but I'm fighting it to hold on to my own ground.

I've lost so much ground. I've mostly stopped thinking about that hypothetical day when everything is lovely "again." As if it ever was. I'm only thinking about now. And actually getting shit done. Slowly, but surely.

I'd been miserable as sin because I'd apparently gone over 13 stone for the first time in a couple of years... turns out if you put the bloody scales in the wrong place on the bathroom floor they add 5lbs to your weight. So I'm not as bastard well fat as I thought I was... HA, TAKE THAT, WORLD.

And I'm now on the sofa, drinking rosebud tea and watching a concert of Beethoven's Ninth on the telly at a deafening volume, and feeling somehow gratified that I'm no longer yearning to sink a bottle of whisky and gatecrash a party every Friday night any more. Here's to older and wiser...

    More good things:

    - Watched all 4 seasons of The IT Crowd in one day. God bless Netflix.
    - Cleaned a lot of the living room. Hopefully the start of a housewide cleaning frenzy.
    - Reminded that I still got it with the guys and girls. *hip jut*
    - Found my long lost winter hat and brown armwarmers!
    - Beer recipe almost done. Soon I will order the ingredients.
    - In for a night of fighting at the gym. Then cleaning my battleaxe and drinking mead. Yes.

    Good thing (I think).

    Thrown the dice.

After going to a studio shoot for work on Monday (to observe), and being asked to do headshot portraits for work a couple of weeks ago and realising that my gear wasn't up to that sort of gig (no proper flash, broken camera)... I realised I miss taking pictures too much, I'd dreamed of making a go of photography as a way of generating a second income, or at least paying for itself, or as an emergency second career should it be required. I'd realised that the guys we employ for £500 a pop are great, but in many cases they're not really doing anything I'm not capable of doing too (not that I want to take work from them though).

So I've just ordered a new D600 full frame camera and speedlight. Means I can properly use all my good prime lenses instead of DX ones, I can offer to do shoots for work now when there's no budget to employ someone instead of refusing, so I get to build my portfolio, and I talked my partner into agreeing to help me sell stuff, whether prints or through stock agencies.

I sure as hell can't afford it, so I have to make it work. But I was happier when I had that obsession, I think I have to bite the bullet and go for it.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY Fishelle!

As for me, I'm on day 3 of returning to my old position at work.
Need some serious training for the software we are now using, but learning it has been a goal for a couple of years, so I can't believe I am getting paid to learn it.
SO happy to be back to doing what I love (editing television)
I have to say my year is off to a great start.

    Happy birthday, Fishelle!

My good news is that I got accepted into a juried art fair! It's more expensive to go than I would prefer, so I may not go, but it's the first juried event that has accepted me. Even if I pass my spot to someone on the wait-list, I still know that I got in. That feels pretty cool.

I have no specific good news except Fishelle's birthday.

I seem to have usurped this thread rather effectively.

Lovely day. I had worried that it might not be, knowing I had to start it off with going to the DMV to renew my drivers licence, but that went quick. My mom took me out to lunch, and I did some stuff in the printmaking studio. I didn't have a party, really. But a good friend of mine who is a fabulous cook made me lamb daube and lavender napoleons. We also had a tiny chocolate cheesecake to put candles in and make a wish with. Fitting all of my candles so comfortably on a 6 inch circle made me feel like I have a lot of life left ahead of me, which of course I do. And I think this next year of it looks promising.
