Also it was really great. Too much to really take in at one walk through. There are rooms essentially dedicated to each film, including early films not usually remembered as his, and a few that were never actually made. There is a terrific large section on his photographic work from prior to his filmmaking life, and that alone is fascinating to look at, as many of the photos could not possibly have been staged, yet his carefully composed cinematic constructions are in them too. There are some clear lines drawn from those photos to his later film work.

I found it surprising how much of the imagery for 2001 was cribbed and adapted from other places. As assembled in that film it's a fully fleshed aesthetic, yet the pieces of it can be found in a nicely chosen array of influences that Kubrick collected in the lead up to that film.

I'll be going back at some point.
