It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 35, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for A4Tech, not safe for Vedett White, not safe for that guy over there with his back to me and the stupid-looking glasses.

    Ooooosh!

Wasn't expecting that! Lit cigar goes in armory. Armory goes bang. Crossed get in the fort. Plucky squaddies go down fighting & the Cava crew get to keep all the goodies.

    Gorgeous visuals,especially the long shots.

Figured the fort would be compromised, but I'm sort of glad it didn't happen as a result of treachery/sabotage on Shaky's part. He's devious, sure, but hasn't done anything that wicked (yet).

And I'm sure many are relieved to see the episode not end in some kind of sordid sex orgy for Seline! Keep it in your fan fiction, guys.

Down to seven! This keeps up Shaky won't have enough asses for the seats on the boat home. And I'm worried about that injury!

    Go Tabitha! Kill that #%^*!

GOD what an insane cliffhanger. loving this fort nonsense. mixed feelings about the fort being compromised, but I figured it was inevitable.
I was kind of happy there was still a remnant of humanity (other than Cava) sticking it out and fighting the 'good fight.'

VERY curious to see what exactly the fuck happened to Seline. although I'm not sure Si will actually get into the readers being able to see her story from the point her van entered the fort, it would be pretty cool.

this series just keeps getting better and better. lovelovelovelove.

Nobody was injured as far as I could see, longtimelurker. Good episode, glad they wrapped the fort story up quickly tbh, maybe now we will get to hear Viceroy's story, whatever that may be. Interlude next week? Hope not, lol.

Oh love how when the Yank enters a fortified base, the base falls. Guess we Americans really know how to ruin it for everyone else huh.

I like how Shaky in this feels like he missed the final act big battle. The end of the movie. But when the battle is to survive all the time, skipping the climactic win/lose conflict is a plus. Shaky feels like he needs to be tested to prove he should survive. But why should he? Issues over his feelings of guilt or what kind of bastard he's turning into are largely irrevalant. In a sane world, his worries might be valid, but in the Crossed world, Shaky and all the survivor types need to be sharper, harder, better than those who failed to make the cut. This does not mean degenerating into brutality and cruelty. But the difficult decisions need to be made. It's not something that can be put off for another day. There are no second chances.

Part of Shaky's issue may be that he is still stuck in a sane world mentality somewhat, but he may just have to move on and deal.

    Don't forget the gunshot wound!

    Some thoughts, theories, and guesses:

X-faced former Nun is going to be a REAL problem for the crew, and sooner rather than later. She appears to be able to control and organize the Crossed. If Cava falls (which the artwork indicates it eventually does) I'd bet money it will have something to do with her.

Man-in-the-shadows, the wrapped-up Juggernaut with no love for the Crossed, who randomly saved Viceroy's ass. Who is he? It would be cool (though very implausible) if it ended up being Skip's (Mr. White-boy Dreadlocks) macho man brother...

Shaky's Story: Some things are a given. We know Lloyd, Agnes, the redshirt, and the Gamekeeper do not live on Cava, and are therefore either Crossed or dead. The aforementioned Nun is alive, but transformed somehow into something that is possibly worse than Crossed. Lloyd is finally starting to protest on behalf of Agnes, but that didn't work out so well. Agnes is on the verge of a total meltdown -no surprise there, being raped daily and all. "Desperate" is an entirely inadequate word for her right now.

Now I dip into my ideal ending to this awful scenario:

Agnes, having failed her previous suicide attempt, as well as her efforts to present the Nun as a more appealing target, has finally accepted the only recourse left to her.

Gamekeeper takes Agnes aside for the usual abuse and debasement. On tonight's menu, moonlit fellatio among the ever present corpses. The ruins of a garage where some weekend warrior and his shotgun had made their last stand. How romantic.

Agnes waits until GM is thoroughly enjoying himself, grunting, eyes closed. She reaches out to the nearest pile of bio matter, a rotten lump of pulped flesh and shattered exposed bone. Quickly, before she can loose her nerve, she slices her finger on a protruding curl of sharp rib.

Agnes. Human, terrified, and hopeless, she has no escape from the horror.

    Crossed Agnes however....

As the rash begins to color her cheeks, she bites. And bites. And bites.

    "The plussies aren't like us -- It's
easy to forget that. They don't
    get frustrated. They don't learn
    from failure. They just react."

    Insects :)

Too bad the troops stored their explosive stuff near the wall, but hey - - sh1te happens and no fixed positions can stand in the crossed world anyways. Was that Viceroy driving the car again? I wonder what Viceroy would be like crossed. The luckiest plussie ever maybe...
  8.  (10966.11)
So all of the besiegers and besieged happened to be near the gates? Not one survivor is left among what look to be untouched (windows intact) interior buildings? The soldiers had been holding out for a year or two only to get wiped out within a few hours after Seline's entrance? I don't get it, but of course I'm looking forward to the next installment!
  9.  (10966.12)
Anyone else think that the last panel signifies that Seline was the person who pulled the pin (or somehow involved) of the grenade that blew the wall open? They never found a body and Shaky looks at a finger attached to the pin and then the hole in the wall...

But it seemed like the explosion was too large for just one grenade. So maybe a grenade went off close to an ammo supply?

And here's an interesting pattern. We have the cow with a grenade on a boat. The crucified crossed with grenades in their mouth. And now apparently a pulled grenade that may be linked to the fall of the fort.

Just a wild thought - now that the fort's empty would it make a better sanctuary than Cava? It's presumably got plenty of ammunition and supplies, it's built for defence, it's nice and close to an urban area full of further supplies, it's further south (with better prospects for agriculture) and every plusface for miles has just been splatted.

They'd have to plug the hole in the wall, obviously, but if they could manage that, it might be feasible.
  11.  (10966.14)
it would take more than 20 odd survivors to be able to secure a place that large and they wouldn't be able to effectively plug the hole not without cement trucks and lots of supplies. At least not before the next tsunami of crossed bodies hit the fort.

I wonder if Jackson was at the fort. It seems like a place he and his sheep would be drawn to. It would be interesting to see if Seline was about to get attacked by the Troops and Jackson tries to save her. No Matter how tough he is he can't take on a load of trained soldiers with Guns. So he decides to blow a hole in the fort and and rescue Seline while the troops are busy.

Hmm..., I think Jackson is former military himself, a Falklands veteran..., but as I understood it his story will be told in Crossed Badlands, and that he would not return to the webcomic...?

seline held by potential rapists (28 days later), decides to off herself, and take the bastards out with her?
