@Chris g - I have enjoyed every single one of your comics. You have been developing a story sense that is a little like poetry - a distillation of comics story, quoting tropes honestly, conveying in one page a whole, complete idea. Your style supports this completely and is cool on its own.

Some workspace/WIP updates on a bigger piece:


The easel I hammered together.


The piece as of a few weeks ago. Started as a figure drawing, 3 poses of the same model. I likes the middle a lot and worked on it until I realized it was out of proportion (head too big), and that the whole thing needed to be more coherent and less just three anonymous figures.


I chalked over the flanking figures to make two completely new ones. I liked the idea of giant divinities sort of holding her up, and the whiteness the central figure gives way to is becoming a skirt of butterflies.


This is where I think the heart of the piece is.


Working on the arms. It's interesting painting with chalk on top of already laid down chalk. I'm finding that to a certain point you can use brushes to whisk away layers of dust and make it easier to redraw. I've done this with the central figure's face multiple times as I've redrawn her head to try to get it in proportion. Also, as with these arms, you can just layer on top of layer, blend, repeat. I've got spray fixative that is meant to provide a final surface that you can continue to draw on, but haven't applied it yet. When it's as good as it can get in this condition I'll spray down the whole thing and apply fine detail, probably with pastel pencils at that point.


The middle one is the model, the flanking ones are just invented.

I am dealing with the aesthetics, animations and storytelling while my friend is handling most of the graphics engines. All the drawings are done with pen and ink and put into the game using Microsoft Visual Studio .

Today I made a paper mock up for a large sculpture exhibition I am planning. I'm going to build a life-sized cartoon city in a gallery next Sept-Oct and am getting pretty excited by the idea.
