@Herr Hussein--good to hear, but but don't want to risk being banned unless I hear from the HWSi.

I see we're going to have a lot of BEM Popes doing inter-dimensional travel.

@kmcleod: Well, get one of your ideas going, anyway, if you're not doing it already. Deadline is Wednesday. Funny - the Pope's own deadline will be the day after. Thursday February 28th, he officially stands down.

@KMcleod: yes. One here, one on the art-thread. The one here is the one with a shot at the Bleedingcool spot.

One that I did in 2011 - Robo Pope!

    Robo-Pope

Heathens! I come from The Future. Bow before me – this is religion 2.0!

dnewling & curb - my thanks to you both. I was kind of surprised to be the start.

Herr Hussein - thanks, it's good to be kind of alive.

Oxbrow - love the (dare i say it?) concept!

imaginarypeople - No worries - there's no conflict. They're both tentacled but, if you look at the eyes of my guy, you'll see that he's sad and trapped to be in the position, not the menace seen in the Squid Pope's eyes. (Well, hopefully you'll see it. That's what i tried to convey)

Sadly, too tired to continue and comment on other excellent results at this time. But - there IS an art thread these days? Didn't see it when i stopped in last weekend. But, now that i know, i'll head over and post what i've been workiing on since the 'ressurection'.

I wondered when Robo Pope would turn up.

@-3-: Not quite sure what you're thanking me for, but you're welcome anyway.

@curb Thanks, I figured I needed to substitute the crucifix for something more appropriate :)

This challenge dovetails nicely with a story told in one of my comics ...

In an alternate universe in which the Blessed Virgin had an abortion, the fetus resurrected and called disciples anyway. One of them realized that the Messiah's omnipluripotent embryonic stem cells would grant people eternal life, and nailed Him to a board to harvest them. Pope Judas I has been transfigured by two millennia of celebrating this Eucharist, and now resembles the Fetus Christ.

    No offense to Catholics. ;)

I'm glad there's a robopope in here. After bitching and moaning about no R&R for a while, one shows up and I have no time to fit it in. Now I have to go draw a "buff, ripped Leprechaun lifting guiness pints like weights"... Some days I hate my clients, but I have learned to just lay there and turn my head when they try to kiss me.

Jason, is that ... is that an umbilical cord holding the coathanger round his neck? I've said it before and I'll say it again - sacrelicious!

Yes, that is the Divine Umbilical, from which hangs a replica of the Holy Abortifacient.

    Pope Tyto
Pope Tyto the Seventh; 2013-2037; rider of the Horse-Tree, teacher of humility through the Night Scream and leader of the charitable doe-mouthed maids; he left a world with more forests and less churches.

Edit: there's a bigger version here.

    Brilliant work, you lovely bastards.

I sure hope this is the dawn of a new era of RE/REs.
