Maybe this will help make up for the dildo and the fly:* Lady plays the "Star Trek" theme on a saw

*The Dildo and the Fly is the name of my new gore metal band.

[cough] you mean goregrind or pornogrind [cough]

(gore metal isn't really a subgenre but it is the name of an album by a band called Exhumed)

EDITED TO ADD: I'm being an asshole, I know, but only because I live with a veritable encyclopedia of metal music and he gets twitchy about this and now I have learned to be very very specific. I have since asked him about this, and he says gore metal is a pseudo genre.

But "Dildo and the Fly" would definitely be a pornogrind band. Sorry.

    Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's kitty!

Pornogrind works, too. And that picture shall be our first album cover.

Honestly, I'm amazed I even got an album name right. I was just making up bullshit.

I just want to say that nothing in the world confuses me as hard as music genres, and I hate them.

    Metal genres are particularly hilarious.

Well that too, but if someone asks me what genre a band I like is beyond just 'rock' or 'jazz', my eyeballs begin to melt out of my head as lizards spew from the sockets.

I find it can be helpful, but I don't tend to use the terms when people I am talking to would have NO idea what I was talking about.

Also because I seem to have a knack for derailing threads I'm gonna try and at least get them back on track.

Robin's Call Your Girlfriend video vs. the SNL rendition.

I tend to just invent genres from the whole cloth and wait for them to come back to me as an actual thing. Amazingly this sometimes happens.

    Have a Norwegian insurance ad.

Also, the above discussion reminds me of some friends of mine's first attempts at starting a hardcore band. You know, hard riffs and barely intelligible yelling of politically charged lyrics. I helped them come up with their first song title by diving into an English dictionary, where I found the word "forceps".

@Twentythoughts, FAMOUS metal band Carcass wrote their first album (INCIDENTALLY, pioneering the grind gore genre) and got the song titles by looking at medical/pathological textbooks.

    Album: "Reek of Putrefaction"

    Tracklist:
    1. "Genital Grinder"
    2. "Regurgitation of Giblets"
    3. "Maggot Colony"
    4. "Pyosisified (Rotten to the Gore)"
    5. "Carbonized Eyesockets"
    6. "Frenzied Detruncation"
    7. "Vomited Anal Tract"
    8. "Festerday"
    9. "Fermenting Innards"
    10. "Excreted Alive"
    11. "Suppuration"
    12. "Foeticide"
    13. "Microwaved Uterogestation"
    14. "Feast on Dismembered Carnage"
    15. "Splattered Cavities"
    16. "Psychopathologist"
    17. "Burnt to a Crisp"
    18. "Pungent Excruciation"
    19. "Manifestation of Verrucose Urethra"
    20. "Oxidized Razor Masticator"
    21. "Mucopurulence Excretor"
    22. "Malignant Defecation"

Their second album also follows this trend, apparently.

Cannibal Corpse is another one. George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is the lead singer and writes songs like "Dormant Bodies Bursting," "Drowning in Viscera," and "Orgasm Through Torture."

Also Six Feet Under, Cephalic Carnage, Braindrill and Suffocation all share the common theme, to one degree or another.

Edit: Apparently Cephalic Carnage now self identify as "rocky mountain hydro grind," or whatever the fuck that is.
