    @ Wood

    Actually, Jordan Black directed the series. Azie Mira Dungey portrayed Lizzie Mae in the series. She also wrote it, basing it on her experiences portraying a slave at Mount Vernon.

    @Johnjones : d'oh ! I got the names all mixed up. In my defense, the youtube description is pretty ambiguous :
    Ask A Slave is a comedy web series directed by Jordan Black based on the actress' time working as a living history character at the popular historic site, George Washington's Mount Vernon.

    I thought that "the actress" and "Jordan Black" were the same person.

    Editing my post right now.

    Old, but I hadn't seen it before, so there.

    If I recall correctly the skeletons were decorated because they asked for it.

    There was a tradition of mediumship in the church where random skeletons would "contact" people via dreams and visions, declare themselves to be previously unknown saints and demand gold, jewels and worship in return for favours.

    The whole thing resembles a kind of an undead protection racket.

    @Bankara and Purple Wyrm

    I'd read that the skeletons were mostly sanctioned imposters meant to bolster spiritual tourism--and that more than a few of them were on the rolls as "St. Anonymus". The obscuring logic was that they were saintly relics, but no one could remember just who they were. This was several years ago, but I really prefer that explanation!

    @sseloske, St. Anonymous needs to be canonized. Guilt tripping martyrs and saints demanding bling from beyond the grave for spiritual services and sacrifices rendered is a great hook.
