Apparently the devil follows one middle-aged man around all day, trying to trick him into jacking it.

    @Greasemonkey

I was listening to this on BBC Radio 4 all week, I guess it is a common affliction of the irrational.

The Screwtape Letters By C.S. Lewis

This week marks the fiftieth anniversary of C.S. Lewis's death, and a memorial stone to the author is due to be unveiled in Poets' Corner in Westminster Abbey.
Book of the Week marks the occasion with a reading of his famous letters from a senior to a junior devil.
Read by Simon Russell Beale Abridged and produced by Jane Marshall.
A Jane Marshall production for BBC Radio 4.

The Devil apparently looks a lot like Anthony Jeselnik

Meanwhile I finally caught that NSFW "Blurred Lines" video that everyone buzzed about for a while and I learned three things from it.

    1) "Blurred Lines" has a very catchy tune.
    2) Emily Ratajkowski has a very lovely body.
    3) Robin Thicke has a very punchable face.

That video made me want to punch myself in the face 7 or 8 times. I've had dreams of Marvin Gaye's ghost coming back and kicking the shit out of Robin Thicke.

The Screwtape Letters are actually kind of fine literature. C S Lewis wrote a stack of theological and academic works which are still highly regarded.

@imaginarypeople: I've had a conversation with a customer wearing a shirt very similar to that. Given to him by his ex-girlfriend. Who he called a crazy bitch. So heartwarming! (He did not like my reaction.)

    @ Johnjones :

I couldn't watch that Anthony Jeslenik video till the end, I can only take so many rape jokes, racist jokes and sexist jokes in one day.

Also here is a list of things I think are wrong with the "blurred lines video" :
    - The men are clothed, the women are naked (I like it better when everybody's naked)
    - The men talk, the women keep silent
    - They keep uttering classic rape cultures phrases like "you know you want it" and "be a good girl"
All these things together make the whole thing really creepy.

Equal time nakedness = better music…
    BELOVED: SWEET HARMONY

The ratio is still off, but yes, seeing Thicke and Pharell with all the naked women parading around for their pleasure… what you said. Creepy, sexist, rapey shit.

    @ Wood

Which is why I thought Anthony Jeselnick would be the version of Satan who tries to talk middle-aged white guys into masterbating. That would be a step up for him.

In a just world Emily Ratajkowski goes on from this to be a famous, critically acclaimed actress while Robin Thicke devolves into the "you know, the douche-bag guy with that song that had Emily Ratajkowski in it. I think he was related to that one guy in Growing Pain. Not Leonardo diCaprio or the psycho religious kid, the dad, you know, Alan Thicke."

I'm having trouble determining if this is a silly meme that George has joined in on or a genuine product announcement inspired by said meme, but...

I thought that video was satire for like 70% of it and now I just don't know what to believe.

Berkeley professor emails students to explain why he's not striking - email goes viral.

I can’t tell you what your particular role should be in the new realities of the 21st century. It’s up to you to decide if you want to make the focus of your life technological, focused on new innovations to drive society forward, or essentially human, focused on the age-old struggles of trying to get along, work together, and find happiness, or some combination of the two.

However I can tell you this:

Whatever you decide to do with your life, it’s going to be really, really complicated.

I read that as more satirical liberal, actually. It made me laugh, at least. :)
