And on the subject of the ISS :

The ISS has ditched windows entirely - for Linux

The United Space Alliance has decided to stop using all Windows computers aboard the ISS, in favour of Linux—to ensure it's systems are "stable and reliable”. Ouch.

The decision will see “dozens of laptops” change from running Windows XP to Debian 6, reports Extreme Tech. There are already Linux systems aboard the ISS, but from this point on Microsoft is banned. Keith Chuvala of the United Space Alliance has explained that the move to Linux will provide"in-house control. So if we needed to patch, adjust or adapt, we could.”

Meanwhile, the UK are doing test flights for civilian UAVs, in an attempt to see whether they can share commercial airspace safely.

    Exhibit A

Exhibit B (couldn't find an English version, but it's even better in German)

This douchebag just became a resident where I work

Detectives found the body of a missing U.S. postal worker Friday evening, hours after her burned-out vehicle was located in San Jacinto County.

Investigators said they believe she was shot at a different location and then driven to where the truck was set on fire.

It makes it really hard to treat these criminals fairly when you know the gruesome details of their crimes. This is the part where I hate my job.

I know this isn't the normal NEWSTRANGE topic, and I rarely post about who's currently incarcerated at my place of employment, Hell, I rarely post at all anymore, but for some reason (my soul?) I felt really pissed off about this creep killing this old lady, and I had to vent it somewhere. Since I can't post it publicly (i.e. facebook or equivelent, due to nondisclosure agreements we have through the job) this is pretty much the only place I can vent it. Thanks.
