So remember those tornadoes in Oklahoma?

    Tornado truthers.

    Yeah. Yeah...

@ greasemonkey - horrible, and this is going to be ugly, divisive and depressing, in terms of fallout.
don't know what the fuck is wrong with people.

So that dude I mention the other day, the guy who murdered the postal worker? Yeah, he slit his wrists in front of me tonight. He'll live. Not sure how I'm feeling about that tonight.

Mate, I just don't have anything non-banal to say. "That's awful?" "I couldn't do your job?" I'm basically just speechless. I like reading your posts, don't want you to feel unwelcome. I just don't have anything at all useful or cogent to say.

Factory making Hello Kitty stays open in war zone, due to demand for its products in neighbouring war zone.

Now, that made me wonder what the Hamas Mickey Mouse clone was actually like. This has got to be the single worst thing I have ever seen on television. It's dizzyingly, face-meltingly dire.

On the plus side, New South Wales has just passed legislation to ban unvaccinated children from childcare (with exceptions for kids who can't be vaccinated for medical - hooray! - or religious - boo! - reasons).

When did that fall out of practice? I remember growing up and being required to get vaccines to attend public school, day care, summer camp, etc. There was paperwork and everything. I know it wasn't my parents lying cause they didn't have Photoshop back then! Also, I'm in the US, so...

@Glukakke - apparently it's never been written into New South Wales state law that institutions are permitted to exclude unvaccinated children. Until recently Australia has had almost 100% vaccination rates, so it's likely never been a problem before.

And now we've got the Australian Vaccination Network jokers, and vaccination rates are falling towards the herd immunity threshold. Hence, the laws.

I have no idea why those AVN wankers haven't been shut down. I mean, if they were a group advocating paedophilia or recruiting suicide bombers they'd be a smoking crater by now. In terms of deaths and physical harm caused, falling vaccination rates will surely eclipse either of the aforementioned evils in pretty short order.

The problem with that law is that the children are being punished and excluded from public education for the choices made by their parents.

Boy born in jail frees his mother after 19 years
A 50-year-old Indian woman has been released from prison, 19 years after she was granted bail.

Vijay Kumari was unable to post the necessary amount of about $180 (£120) to secure her release - so she stayed in prison until the son, who she gave birth to while in jail, got her out.

    Jack Vance, 1916 - 2013

Sad but nor sorry; he had a mighty good run.

It would be hard to describe how influential he was to my view of fantasy.
