Seriously, that's a long time for a single hug. And we haven't had one of these threads in a whole month, as far as I can see, wtf.
Now I don't even care for these threads some of the time, but I have an actual Hug to express:

I just got word that I won a student essay contest. They're going to fly me down and put me up in San Diego at the beginning of June, to present my essay and receive my award at the annual conference. It's a pretty great thing to throw on my resume. And I'm hoping it means I can hang with all you bros and bro-ettes on the California coast before I have to head home.

Also there's a guy next to me crooning "All The Young Dudes" along to the radio. It's amazing.

That's amazing, Allana! Congrats! Say hello to Cally-for-nigh-Ay for me! :)

I was offered a paid part in a graduation film today off the back of a film I did last year. He'd basically just seen me in that and went "great, want that guy" which is an incredibly encouraging thing to hear! Dunno yet if it'll all pan out, but it's looking good so far.

@allana, awesome! Hope you have an awesome time and are able to have a bit of a well-earned break there!

@Magnulus, Nice! Just think of the job offers you'll get from that last photoshoot... :P

Me, looks like I'm finally getting paid to talk about beer. Next Thursday is a fundraiser for a Celtic Festival going on and I'm leading a tasting of some beers. Am thankful that I got to choose which beers to do (within the theme) and it was sorted out to get them. Beers include McAuslan's Scotch Ale, a wonderful ruby red beer with peated barely, Amsterdam's Wee Heavy, a very comfortable drink, and MAYBE some Innis & Gun Barrel Aged beers which are pretty smooth going.

Also it seems not being able to update the site often due to work, my reputation throughout the industry is growing? I'm getting sincere e-mails from breweries thanking me for any praise I give on my twitter (or even more half-assed, my untappd posts) and I think I've been called "one of the city's top taste makers" more than twice in the past couple of weeks...it's weird. I haven't been doing anything!

Better than all of that though, is that after about a month of no breaks, a lot of early mornings and late nights...I have the long weekend to myself.

    *applauds*

Remember to swing by Edinburgh when you're on your world tour of beer, Robin! :D I love seeing my friends succeed, especially when it grows organically around them like that.

@oldhat: you mean you haven't been charging for your TV appearances? And you should seriously consider getting a Google AdSense account and putting some ads on your site (in the sidebar or something, nothing too in your face).

@oldhat - NICE!! Very well done!

@Allana - Woot! And it would be super awesome to meet you! I think Argos is down in SD, there's a handful of us up here in LA. It's a two hour drive - but Wurstkuche is worth it, just ask Robin, Miki or Magnus. }:>

@Magnulus - yay for get getting noticed!

Me... nothing boisterous, just quiet, intensely internal earthquakes that shake me around, leaving me shivering and pleased.

    @Allana-Congratulations!

And...nevermind. The organizer of the event has a personal crisis going on and cancelled everything. While I totally understand, am a bit bummed. That and my homebrew came out undrinkable, so bah.

I have a class presentation in two hours that I feel pretty good about. Decided against wearing the bowtie for the full-on sales-pitch vibe, but it'll still be fun.

Then I think tomorrow I sign a lease on a really great apartment that'll keep me for more than a year? Imagine: not having to move for more than a year! Haven't done that since 2008.

Then I spend all weekend writing. Ah, remember writing? It's the thing I signed onto this whole grad-school thing to do. I even seem to recall I'm pretty good at it.
