It's Thursday, it's mid-afternoon in London, it's another wrongheaded morning in Mericky, it's who-the-fuck-knows-when in Australia, and it's time for more Crossed Hideosity.

    Episode 44, live and free-to-air.

Remember: Not safe for work, not safe for minors, not safe for people of a nervous disposition, not safe for RIMMEL, not safe for chlorexidine gluconate, not safe for my brand new reading glasses.

Can next weeks episode please be 285 pages or so? (This shit is worse than Assrash's smack habit - I'm dying from week to week to turn the next page like a loon!) They're all very good, but this and last week have really had some superb story time going on...I can hardly wait to see who, and how, the next one to eat shit is gonna go. And it's a total nard-rupturing thump to flip the last page and a "See you next week"! BRARGHHHH!

So glad Jasper ate shit quickly - he did his job in the story, no doubt about it. But I really hated that turd. Thanks Si - awesome as always!!

So, does this mean Volume 2 is over or is it going to have more Chapters than Volume 1?

I love/dread Thursdays. Jasper's gonna die, right? If Viceroy died, he has to, yes? So the adventure is finally over, and volume three can be the Nun War.
  4.  (11047.8)
Two episodes left in Arc 2, I think.
  5.  (11047.9)
Oh god poor Viceroy ;_; lucky till the end. Welp since my favorite character is dead, guess the Nun now is my X-ed favorite one, though she probably should put some clothes on since its cold as hell. Hope she doesn't kick Shaky's arse too hard, be a real shame to see that reunion go wrong.

I like foreign language films and easily forget I am reading subtitles. So I hooked the laptop to a big screen [60 inch + 4 metre hdmi cable]. I am thinking 'wish you were here' works as good as film. Cant imagine that for every graphic style - quality of art and colour as well as tight writing and direction is important
Its an interesting possibility to hire a complete graphic novel for the night instead of waiting for the diluted Hollywood anodyne version. Musicals might be a problem

fantastic episode. So, Vol 1 was the introduction to everyone, Vol 2 was the sortie and its fallout, Vol 3 will be the finale with the nun's Crossed army attacking Cava I suppose. I knew that the gun would blow up and horribly injure Jasper, but I did not expect Viceroy and the black kid to bite it as well. Of course, you should always expect the worst so it should not have been a surprise lol. I will miss Viceroy though. He was just a decent bloke and got fucked over by the world. Of the various writers to work on Crossed, Si and Ennis are the two who really nail that mix of horror with a deep sadness and sense of loss, and it is very compelling(Lapham is the second best writer, but he is all about the black humor and insane grossout). And Si is the only one to get more into the Crossed themselves and show the tragedy of their fate. With the character of Mattias in his Badlands arc, Tabitha's story, and the nun, he gets across better than anyone(including Garth) the fact that these were once people, and it keeps them from always becoming just zombie cannon fodder.

Sweet fuck that was amazing. I agree with just about everyone else here in that the series has been great thus far, but these past few wrap-up episodes have been fan-fucking-tastic. I know I've said this before, but it's worth repeating: this is definitely my most anticipated weekly title, out of the 30 or so that I'm following. It's just getting better and better each week. I'll surely be buying the TPB's as well.

Happy to see Jasper bite it and for the GK to tuck his tail. And just when the baddies are starting to get their comeuppance and things are looking up for past and present Shaky... shit is about to go balls-up and pear-shaped on the isle of Cava. I cannot wait to see how this all unfolds. I imagine it ends with the tell tale image of Shaky atop the watch tower with a gang of plussies prepping to tear it down. Unless that was just promo fluff... either way, everyone bites it in the end with the crossed.

I might shit my heart out of my ass if next week is an interlude.

    Great work to everyone involved.

I have been an avid Crossed fan since the beginning and I am absolutely convinced that nobody but Garth and Si are able to write Crossed tales and make them transcend the violence and chaos with real stories about the terrified people trying to survive in the middle of said violence and chaos. I love WYWH and can't wait to have the TPB of this story arc. I have to say, with Si giving us the Love Conquers story arc in badlands as well as the crossed Annual, he clearly has demonstrated his skills at writing very interesting stories set in the crossed universe. Some of the badlands arcs are weak, but Si and Garth always deliver. HEY Si Spurrier: What comic conventions are you coming to this year?

So Richie would still be alive if he had got rid of that old gun. Viceroy would still be alive if he had learned to assert himself properly.

For that matter, Jasper would still have a hand if he hadn't threatened Shaky, a move that would have gained nothing anyway.

Not saying it deserved to happen, but it IS like a three-way Darwin Award.

Well, in terms of novels, the Hater series by David Moody isn't entirely dissimilar.

Anything by Garth Ennis, Slicknick. If you enjoyed the Ennis Crossed stories that were drawn by Jacen Burrows, then check out 303 (just one trade paperback) and Wyrmwood Chronicles (2 trade paperback collections plus one in-between issue). They work every well together, and coincidentally are all those books published by Avatar. Beyond that, Ennis's 60 issues or so on Punisher MAX were pretty compelling, and his Punisher work before that on Marvel Knights was full of black humor that treated the Marvel Universe very irreverently. Then there's the obligatory DC work he did on Preacher, Hellblazer, and Hitman. My favorite single issue of his is a Hellblazer one, shortly after it got absorbed into Vertigo, in which Constantine celebrates his 40th birthday by finding his flat filled with guests (who were invited without his permission by a supernatural friend whom he'd helped cheer up some time prior, some spirit of festivity) from the DC Universe, including former Justice League member Zatanna (who smokes a joint while magically having it float in front of her mouth), Swamp Thing (who's asked (and agrees) to grow a scrawny fledgling cannabis plant into a titan with buds bursting (though Steve Dillon apparently didn't know what such plants actually look like, so you have to use your imagination)), and Phantom Stranger (who interrupts John while the latter is in the alley pissing against a wall, and as a result gets urine splattered onto his shoes). It was because of that issue that Ennis became my new favorite comic book writer, a position which Alan Moore had occupied until then.

Great episode - and I'm still wondering about the bloody glove and knife at the start of the previous episode...?
