    Alrighty, to start things off:

I was offered a job at the aquarium!! Huzzah! :D it's a temp job, so I'll have to job hunt again once it's done, and the aquarist's have to get the position approved with the financial dept. first, so if that falls through then I won't even have the temp job, but the fact I was offered the job and many of the aquarists recommended me for the position makes me very happy.

Ironically, if this goes through, the position I'll be taking over was originally offered to me first a year ago, but back then it was a student-work job due to the aquarium's financial constraints, so I didn't qualify. The girl who ended up getting it graduated later that year, and they were able to convert the job into a part-time exempt to keep her on even though she was no longer a student. Because that happened, now that she's leaving, they're going to see if they can offer the position to a non-student, in this case, myself.

I wish! I just work with the seahorses for the moment, so I suppose it means I know everything about cleaning their tanks and feeding them.

I was paid recently for a story of mine that will be in an anthology coming out later this year, I will be paid sometime relatively soon for another story in another anthology also coming out later this year, and I just got off the phone about a possible three-month contract HR job which would be GREAT as right now I've been staring down the road at the oncoming car driven by Stress Due to Lack of Moneys and playing chicken with it. Besides that I'm 45k words into a new novel and it's going strong.

Woot for you guys, @argos & RenThing!

I made it through coaching tonight, getting better and better as I went. It could have gone very poorly indeed, but it looks like the work I've put in is paying off as my performance has gotten noticeably better. The coach isn't prone to couching things kindly, so the fact that he liked what I did and could tell I worked at it meant a lot.

It's my 15th wedding anniversary! Hardly seems like yesterday since we first made our vows on an outcrop of limestone in the Yorkshire Dales (Later on in the month we celebrate 18 years of being together too.)

In other news I have a story coming out in a publication, Cabinet des Fees, I've had on my list since I started submitting work.

@Beamish Woo hoo, congrats! Will the IT job be for a different industry altogether?

I was asked by a DJ at WFMU to be one of his guests for a show next month. I'm going to BE ON THE RADIO. I am so excited.

Also, I was asked to be part of a roundtable discussion about Batman TAS by the fine fellows at Nerd Geek Dork, which should be edited and uploaded next week, I think.

Also, the woman who did the voice of Julie Winters wrote back to me on Facebook and ended a long debate I've had with myself about whether it was her voice I'd heard repeatedly for passport photographs at a chain of drugstores. (it wasn't her)

Also, I've got a memory foam mattress! WHOOOO!!!

Also, the fellow I had a crush on from the 7th grade all through highschool, a guy who is now a successful attorney in my small rural conservative home town, favorites and reposts most of my political postings on twitter and facebook. I can't explain to you how much it makes me beam every single time.

Also, my fellow is bringing me to LA in August for a two week vacation: a drive to San Franciso, possibly a weekend in Mexico (I've never been!), and some kind of river rafting flotilla thing.

Also, my second cousin has been doing awesome with his writing carreer (writing for Ben 10 and other Cartoon Network stuff) and it's so neat to know that Iv'e got some other geeks in my family!

I'm graduating from college today! And tomorrow, I guess. They split it up into 2 ceremonies, one with the whole college, then another with just your major.
    WOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooo!

I worked out!! Huzzah!! Now to make it a habit again. It was a very short workout and while there were some intense and exhausting moments, it wasn't overall as intense as I would've liked. It also didn't work out my arms as much as I would have liked, but my core got tired and my legs are all wobbly now, so that's good. Cooled down with some yoga and while my legs are more stiff than they were last year, they feel better than this morning. Best of all is that I worked out not out of guilt or dragging myself into it, but because after looking at workout videos my body just physically felt restless and gross. I worked out because my body wanted to, which is definitely what I need to make this a habit. Not to mention that when I'm feeling all comfortable, I feel less guilty about not working out than when I feel all restless.

    @Fishelle, HOORAY! Congratulations!

@Argos, That's definitely the best way to start the working out habit again.

So the office move is done and aside from a few computer problems, it went smoothly. My transition in to unemployment has been...not as soul crushing as I thought it would be? I dunno. I'm out there applying to jobs, so it's not like I'm staying still. In fact, I'm kind of noticing that, despite busy days, I can reach a point where I have some time to work on personal things. I've worked pretty solidly yesterday and didn't collapse at the end of it. Liking this so far.

Started getting in to the habit of a breakfast smoothie. This one has spinach, avocado, banana, ground flax seed, vanilla and soy milk. A step up from my usual breakfast of nothing.

Oh! And last night I decided that I wanted to make some music. I got a hold of Reaper and, through the use of Freesounds and a Number Station, got a few things and I MADE SOMETHING! I need to run some errands today, so think I'll make some field recordings to play with here.

This week has been simply awesome with the birthday, great picnic that followed, sense of accomplishment and closure at work, the novel edits plodding onwards on a steady and rewarding pace, and today a day of boulder climbing (which for me was more of sightseeing and climbing trees to get geocaches, because most of the routes were 6-something), and an evening sauna and food with the climbing people.

This has been a week of the new life really cementing itself down, and a lot of old stuff coming to an end in a very concrete way. I had a pause in the morning when I realized that it has been exactly a year since I actualized the not-too-easy a decision to leave my previous relationship. A lot has happened since, and things could've gone in a few different ways. I'm thinking the one where I work in games industry by day, do marine biology / research diving and put the finishing touches to a novel by night and weekend, and spend the rest of the times adventuring with an awesome person was one of the better legs of the trousers of time.

Been teaching myself chiptune-style music tracking the last couple of days. I feel like I'm picking up the basics alright, thanks to a bunch of good tutorials I've lassoed together as a kind of lesson plan for myself. Don't have anything I'd want other people to listen to yet, but I've managed a few groovy bass lines. Going to try to make a cover of The Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated" as a test, once I know what all the parts do in the software I'm using (MilkyTracker, which seemed like the most beginner-friendly Mac-compatible tracker out there).

Not letting the sting of job rejections get to me as much as it used to. As horrible as it sounds, assuming that I won't get the job anyways is helping with the blow.

Got a book. Did some planting.

And now Chopin's Nocturne while getting ready for bed.

Despite not sounding like I'm in a great mood, the day got better and I'm good. :)

Day was sucking but picked up. Then hit a highlight over wine and fancy sliders at one of the prettiest hotels on Earth - the Grand Californian outside of Disneyland. Gabbed with my friend for a little bit. Lovely.

Not wanting to state the obvious, but the weather is pretty good at the moment. I went exploring the other side of the motorway, and ended up in some nice nature-stuff. I walked miles and ended up sitting opposite a pub, watching normal people enjoying a drink. I just smoked a roll-up and walked back. I am now brown-ish.

I am now in the realm of eight-months-clean, which is good. Tomorrow I start some training for voluntary work.

    Baby steps, mother-fucker!
