Christ. Leaving the Gamekeeper alive is going to be a bad idea. Can't believe Shaky, a former comics writer, doesn't realize you NEVER leave the highly competent, completely evil guy alive.

Couldn't agree more, @blighty. I'm guessing the crossed attack the tied up GK, nun goes back to help him, Shaky runs, nun becomes uber-x-face-crossed, GK becomes trashbag cyclops mummy?

Ah? Ah? Ahhhhhhh, I am often wrong.

Thanks for the good read this week, Si. I was in need of a good GK/nun flashback fix.

Zombieland Rule @2: double tap. Don't get all stingy with your bullets.

Though in Shakey's case, it's probably more about the fact that back then he was (is?) weak and indecisive.

If I had to guess, I'd say that some of the Cavans decide to go with the fleet, and find out that it's not a Carnival Cruise. But I love how Si never takes the easy or obvious road, and all predictions up to this point have been stunningly inaccurate, so my guess isn't even worth the electrons that are being used to display it.

@VoteForDuvall Yeah. Or maybe the GK gets turned(I could see a scenario where the Crossed show up and the GK somehow intentionally gets himself infected so that they don't kill him and he can get free to seek revenge) and freed and comes after Shaky and the nun, re-rapes her or something while Shaky flees. The trashbag mummy looks awfully big to be the GK. I think the Crossed GK is the old man with the bald head and the biblical beard.

Interesting. Last ep we see Shaky concluding they are "fucked" and low on at least fuel supplies. This ep Shaky concludes that they have better lives because they are unimpressed.

I wonder where Si is going with this?

Personally, I think that the GK is done. But a good chance that Shaky's decision to tie him up leads to the nun getting infected. I really like the end where Shaky finishes by thanking the GK for keeping him alive while leaving him tied to the tree to die for his crimes, a nice combination of how messy everything and everyone is in the Crossed world except, perhaps, the nun before she became Crossed. Harkens back to Ennis's first series where they massacre the crying cannibal children -- arguably the most humane decision but also the worst thing a person could do.

This plus I just picked up badlands 29 means I am going to have a crossed filled terrifying day. I have no idea where this story is headed and I love that.

By the way SI I read you were supposed to be attached to another web comic from avatar described as a modern fantasy, is that still in the works?

Also wanted to add that this series is really developing into something special. The "slow burn" afforded by such long story arcs in such an intense setting has enabled the author and other artists to do some incredible work.

What about Ashoke? He seems about the right build for the man in black. There's also the fact Shaky said he didn't deserve the end he met, which we all thought he'd had understandably enough, however given this week's developments ...

So much to say... About sustainability of the Driftships versus Cava... although our friends on Cava might not think they have much future anyway... Just don't ask what's in the meat patties on the ships... Gross.

As for the Gamekeeper, Shaky, you don't say thank you after fuck you. You say thank you, but!

interesting - I would have thought that the flotilla were desperate and they were playing "friendly" to see what they could take from Cava and it's peoples.
now it turns out the flotilla have it better? I wonder if Cava peeps are going to try to take from the flotilla? always ends up being Man v Man in these lil Crossed arcs, I love it.

hey Si - please please please also do another Badlands arc. anything but another David Lapham arc. please. I will send you chocolates.

I just did 20 days in jail and as soon as I got out the first thing i did was come here to see what I missed. How about shaky on page 4 and 5, "you don't feel responsible for the impression something gives-off...Unless you secretly own it." Simon's writing takes Crossed to another level. Church!

Maybe the visitors merely put on an act of contentment, to make the Cavans take the bait for whatever they've got in mind?

@kzootron: What were you in for?

I have to say I really liked the first issue of Gage's arc but I agree with my fellow posters, Lapham fills me with dread with his upcoming continuing storyline

I think the GK will get Crossed, pursue Shaky and the nun, and she will have a seizure leading to her being left behind. Don't think Ashoke is the mummy either. Too small and thin. Really enjoyed the first issue of Gage's Badlands arc as well. Great art, and I like the whole "human joins with Crossed" thing. Plus Smoky is pretty awesome.
